AI GeneratedThis Fox 6 News broadcast provides a comprehensive update on the Milwaukee Brewers' NLCS progress, local crime and political investigations in Wisconsin, and various national and international headlines, including a fatal amusement park accident and diplomatic resignations.
With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 News at 5.
Now at 5, the Brewers head to Los Angeles
with a two-game lead over the Dodgers in the NLCS.
Now the Brewers look to take a stranglehold on this series.
Plus, we are now just 21 days out from Election Day,
and many politicians are still accepting donations for their campaign.
The stinking donation,
federal investigators say Tom Tiffany got in the mail.
But first, California treated the Brewers well last week,
and now they hope for more of the same.
Yeah, they sure do.
It was just last week that Pat Murphy's crew was in San Diego
to seal up the National League Division Series,
and now the team is in Los Angeles,
only two wins away from a spot in the World Series.
Our Tim Van Boren joining us here in the studio
to keep this coverage and this hot stuff going.
Hey, Tim.
How are you there, Mary and Ben?
The Dodgers, a proud team, though.
They still have plenty of talent in the lineup and on the mound.
And even they would have to admit
the Brewers have been better across the board
so far in this series, even without playing particularly good defense.
That's almost a perfect scenario for a manager like Pat Murphy.
His team's in a commanding position in the series,
but the guys should be open to instruction and guidance
because there are areas of potential improvement.
It's way better to be coaching in that position
than trying to get things turned around while facing a deficit.
It doesn't really matter who the pitcher is.
If we can put together good at-bats, have long at-bats,
and get them out of the game as soon as possible, get to the bullpen,
and kind of wear them down,
then that helps us over the course of a series or the season.
David Hamilton, sort of an example of what's
been going on with this Brewers team.
He didn't play the first game of the series.
He gets in at the bottom of the order,
and then he's one of the main contributors to yesterday's win.
That's how this team gets it done.
Yeah, it's been fun to get to know them
at the press conferences and afterwards
because we're just so involved.
We feel so connected to this team.
I think so, and I think that's part
of what happens as a baseball season goes along.
People kind of live through with a team all summer long.
Now you're seeing this develop.
Storylines develop over the course of a series.
Now you're in your second series, and as you said,
you're starting to maybe learn a little bit
more about even some of these certain players
you've watched all summer, but you see them differently now.
Yeah, it's fun, too, because nationally,
I mean, Brewers fans know this.
We're always screaming, like, no one's paying attention to us.
No one's paying attention to us.
Now suddenly no one can ignore us.
All the things that have been written and said over just the last week.
Yeah, absolutely.
and the crowds at American Family Field and all those camera shots,
those drone shots that people have been seeing.
They think, oh, my gosh, baseball looks wonderful in Milwaukee.
So far it has been.
We'll see what happens in the remainder of the series.
Now, just keep in mind, the Dodgers have
a much bigger payroll than the Brewers.
Of course, we've heard that storyline.
But if you get to the American League, as the World Series lines up
and see Milwaukee in there, both Cleveland and Tampa Bay,
lower than Milwaukee in payroll.
So that storyline will be thrown out the window.
That's surprising.
I did not know that.
There you go.
So interesting stories as we play out the end of the baseball season.
That's what's so fun.
Let's hope we can write that storyline by getting there.
All right, Tim.
Thanks.
Appreciate it.
Hey, and the Brewers announced today that they will
be hosting an NLCS Game 3 watch party
at American Family Field Wednesday night.
Tickets were available starting at 10 this morning.
Emphasis on the word were because they got scooped up right away.
They're no longer available.
Fans were able to request up to five tickets each,
and so many fans did just that.
So the gates will open at 6 p.m. and the Brewers say watch
party information for game four and if necessary game five.
That will be announced at a later date.
If you are looking to go to game three
of the NLCS in Los Angeles, some good news.
Ticket prices seem to have gone down
in the last 24 hours yesterday prior to the game two.
those prices for nosebleeds
or just standing room only tickets were going anywhere between $147
and $160. Now you can get those same tickets for right around $100.
Of course, then you've got to
buy your airfare, and you've always got a cousin to crash with, right?
Yeah, there you go. Something
like that. Meanwhile,
the State Better Business Bureau is warning fans to stay very wary of
playoff ticket scams.
In social media and peer-to-peer scams, fraudsters will use fake or
hacked social media profiles to advertise tickets they don't have.
They'll also use look-alike
websites that really closely resemble official ticket sellers,
so keep your good eye on those.
In high-pressure scams, the fraudsters will create
a false sense of urgency and pressure buyers to
act quickly without verifying the tickets or seller,
like buy now, buy now, or this goes away.
Here are a few steps the Better Business Bureau says you can take
to protect yourself from these
scams. Only buy tickets directly from the team
or an authorized resale site like Ticketmaster,
for example. Always pay with a credit card.
Make sure tickets are transferred directly
to your official account through
a trusted platform like Ticketmaster or the team's
official app. If you're unsure whether your tickets are legit,
contact the stadium's ticket
office right away. Well, here's another look
at the rest of the NLCS schedule now. So the series,
of course, we know it shifts to Los Angeles for games three
and four. That's Wednesday and
Thursday. Now, if the series goes past four games,
game five is also in L.A. That will be on Friday
night. Then game six and seven will be back here in Milwaukee.
That is Sunday and Monday at American
family field. Brings us to today's

the vatican confirms pope leo has lung cancer and
doctors removed the lower lobe of his right lung during surgery today.
The American pontiff went
in a surgery to have a small, localized nodule removed.
That's when they were able to confirm
the cancer diagnosis. The Vatican did not indicate
if he would undergo any additional treatments,
including chemotherapy.
They say the removal of part of his lung was to get rid of any trace of
the cancer. The Pope will be recovering until at least October 20th.
We're giving you a live
pick over the city of Milwaukee right now.
No, this is not a poster. It's not AI. This is Milwaukee
in all of its glory. A beautiful, beautiful fall day.
Blue skies, great temps. If you don't like
this, I can't help you, is what I say.
I was wondering what Tom Walsh is going to talk about.
This is what it's like to be an LA weatherman.
We're running out of descriptive words to talk
about don't worry because there are changes on the way there's actually
so much to talk about
the weather how about today
though 77 degrees in Milwaukee, let me show you what's going on
with a look at the radar
because we got some thunderstorms heading just over the river into
Wisconsin now from Iowa into southwestern Wisconsin, right
into Prairie du Chien this evening and these
are moving to the east northeast at about 50 miles per hour
so these storms could reach southeastern
Wisconsin by about eight o'clock tonight.
We'll see how if they actually survive into our area,
but we may get a couple of rumbles into the area here
this evening again after about eight o'clock
tonight. So that's what we'll be watching for there,
but not a big deal, but maybe a couple
of raindrops and a couple of rumbles that will
be out by the overnight hours. Now, little hazy
at times, very warm today. Here we are at 69.
We're cooling down now with the southeast wind,
Dew points in the upper 50s, so that's dropped.
And our air pressure has actually come up since yesterday.
Upper 60s to upper 70s on the map.
We see a little bit of cooling near the lake.
We can feel that out here on the weather deck right now.
Cooler air up to the northwest, and that filters in tomorrow.
So tonight, again, could see a couple of thunderstorms after about 8
o'clock tonight, ending around midnight.
Temperatures dropping through the 60s.
cooler cloudy and blustery tomorrow before rain moves
in on Thursday, I'll detail all of it for
you coming up in a few minutes back
to you inside all right we'll see in just a bit thank you Tom
an update to a story we told you about last night
a Milwaukee man is now charged for shooting two
women last week near 42nd
and Good Hope tonight he is still on the run Timothy Taylor is facing
multiple charges including first degree intentional homicide
the criminal complaint says on the
morning of October 8th,
Taylor assaulted 20-year-old Amaya Walls outside of her home.
Walls' family says that she had
a no contact order against Taylor after he assaulted her
on a different occasion in which she was out on bond.
Later that afternoon, prosecutors say that
witness saw Taylor drive next to Walls and her aunt,
and that's when prosecutors say he fired
multiple shots at point blank. Walls died from her injuries.
Her family says her aunt is still
recovering in the hospital.
We do not have a picture of Taylor because he is still on the
run tonight. If you know anything, call police right away.
Well, new tonight, the Milwaukee
County Jail has suspended inmate tablet messaging.
Fox 6's Bria Jones is here in the studio to
explain why and what this means for technology moving forward,
Bria. Oh, Ben, Mary, this is
effective immediately. The Milwaukee County
Sheriff's Office says it's pausing the use of
messaging, the messaging feature on the tablets given
to jail detainees. MCSO says this will allow
the jail in time to review
and put protocols in place to prevent inappropriate contact with
potential witnesses in criminal cases.
Now this comes after multiple reports here recently that
inmates have reached out to victims or witnesses tied to their cases.
This topic has become a very
big issue in the governor's race
with Republican candidate Tom Tiffany calling out David Crowley
for not acting swiftly enough to protect victims.
And just last week, Milwaukee County Executive
David Crowley ordered the suspension of tablet messaging
at the Community Reintegration Center,
saying the safeguards put in place weren't effective.
I think the jail is taking the
appropriate approach to suspend for now,
create a protocol that makes sense for our community,
that allows inmates to have contact with family members,
but to also protect victims of crimes.
So I think everyone's in agreement with this, but it's a little bit
shocking that this hasn't been better taken care of before now.
MCSO says the tablets don't have Internet access
and inmates can only exchange messages with account verified recipients
that were actually verified through government ID.
Now, the tablets, they still can be used
for education as well as entertainment purposes.
The sheriff's office also said they did want
to clarify that taxpayers do not pay for the tablets.
These are actually funded by fees that are paid
by the inmates and their families.
Ben, Mary?
All right, Bria Jones, thank you for that.
Well, federal investigators say feces was sent
to the governor's campaign of Republican Tom Tiffany.
Jason Calvey in the newsroom with what we're learning after Fox 6.
We've uncovered these new documents.
Yeah, Ben and Mary Fox 6 has learned
that the campaign received three different letters.
U.S. Postal Inspectors say they were able
to actually track down suspects based on codes found in the letters.
The Tom Tiffany for Governor campaign invites donations
by sending out mailings, which include pre-addressed return envelopes.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says three
of them were returned with feces.
They say the person who sent the letters cut out
the original receiver's name and address,
but there were still codes on the letters that inspectors say revealed
the address where the letters originally were sent,
an address in Kewaskum.
Federal court filings seeking a search warrant were just unsealed.
Inspectors say the first letter was received July 20th
and the second July 27th and the third August 10th.
Investigators say the back of the first envelope said open,
open and big moolah check.
They say the second envelope had the words cabbage inside,
and then on the inside, surprise with an expletive.
The inspectors say the third envelope had a barcode
that pointed to the same address in Kewaskum.
The inspectors also used the U.S. Postal Inspection Service database
to view images of mail to the Kewaskum home.
They say they found the three envelopes
with the codes originally did get delivered to that home.
And the inspectors say the person the mail
was actually intended for died in 2024,
but relatives of his were living in the home and owned it.
The U.S. Postal inspectors did get warrants for a kiosk,
a man and woman for their DNA and fingerprints.
And since prosecutors have not charged those two,
we are not naming them just yet.
And we just got a response from the Tiffany campaign.
It says, quote, not only is this behavior disgusting,
but it also forces innocent postal workers to handle these materials.
There is no place for this kind of conduct,
regardless of political differences.
Ben Jason, I think the investigation is so fascinating
because we've all gotten these pre printed like response things
to send back so that your address is printed on it.
And according to the documents,
this person had cut their return address out,
but maybe didn't realize that you can still find out where it
was sent from the code that they left on when they mailed it back.
Yeah, there were codes on the external envelope
that they sent back to the Tiffany campaign.
They also said the third envelope had a barcode
that also brought them to that Kewoskum home.
So several layers of evidence investigators looked
at to get this search warrant.
Yeah, pretty disgusting.
And now the feds are looking into it.
All right, Jason, thanks.
Well, big changes could soon be coming
to Milwaukee's downtown Red Arrow Park.
Today, the city and the county showed off what
the redesigned park could look like
and asked for feedback
on what people think they'd like to see at the park.
Hey, Tom.
Hey, Mary, we'll soak in this sun because,
oh, the weather's about to change.
Cooler air, rain, and a lot of wind.
I'm going to take you through hour by hour and day by day coming up.
You're watching Fox 6 News with Ben Handelman and Mary Stoker-Smith.
We are getting a look at the possible new designs for Red Arrow Park.
Right downtown today, the Milwaukee County and the city of Milwaukee,
they hosted a public input session to hear feedback on the designs.
All right, let's take a look.
The designs include more seating,
more opportunities for year-round events,
and public art proposals.
One would even replace the skating rink with a ribbon.
Kind of like they do that in Chicago.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, that would wind through the park instead
of just being a big circle there.
These two designs were developed after public input.
They had a session from the city earlier this year.
So we'll see what happens.
It seems like a small park to put a ribbon in.
Yeah.
The more I think about it.
Yeah.
But it could still be pretty.
How about a water park?
Well, today, obviously it's known for the ice skating park,
but a little mini water park?
Can you imagine the kids?
A little retractable roof?
Yeah.
There's a little hill there, you know,
because above the Starbucks or what used to be the Starbucks,
the stairs, you could really get a big slide.
Yeah.
No safety concern there.
They're not asking me.
Exactly.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, it's exciting.
It's very exciting.
You guys, I mean, it felt like another summer day today, didn't it?
70s for highs, close to 80 in some spots as well.
A lot of sunshine.
But now, well, we're talking thunderstorms.
Here's a look at some thunderstorms pushing right over
the river into southwest Wisconsin right now from Iowa.
Nothing severe out of this,
and they're kind of falling apart a little bit as well.
But if this holds together in some form or fashion,
it'll be into southeastern Wisconsin after about 8 o'clock tonight.
Nothing severe expected,
but may have some downpours and some rumbles as this pushes through.
It'll be out by midnight, so a pretty brief window here
for a chance for showers and a couple of rumbles of thunder.
But what a gorgeous, gorgeous day today.
77 our high, 69 our low this morning.
So obviously well above average again on both counts.
Not quite a record today. Record high 88 back in 1975.
7:03, that's our sunrise this morning and 6:12 less than
an hour from now, what will be a beautiful sunset tonight.
69 our current temperature. So our low will actually be dropping here
as we head through the overnight. Winds are out of the southeast.
Dew point 57. So that has dropped today.
Well, our air pressure has come up since we talked yesterday as well.
Temperatures 60s and 70s on the map.
That southeast wind cooling some of our lakeshore communities down.
But look at this. You go just a little bit inland.
Yorkville and Bristol, both in the upper 70s right now.
So it's just a very limited lake breeze. Much cooler up to the north.
I mean, really tiered, right? 70s south, 60s Green Bay,
Wausau, Eau Claire, 50s Rhinelander, Duluth, 40s
Marquette, Michigan, just a sign that this warm-up it's
not going to last let's take a look at the
satellite and radar again we have this little system
with a couple of thunderstorms coming
through this evening the bigger story is going
to be a system that comes in on Thursday so let's
get into SkyVision Plus let's talk about what
we're expecting here tonight again a couple of
those showers and thunderstorms coming
in from the southwest as we go through about eight nine
o'clock for a start time
and then midnight for an end time there you see shouldn't be a real big
deal for us not too concerned about that dry on our Wednesday
but cloudy and significantly cooler
it's going to be blustery look at this wind coming
in out of the north northeast temperatures
low 60s for highs I mean it's pretty close
to average for this time of year but where we've
been it's going to feel cool
and blustery tomorrow now as we go into Thursday particularly Thursday
afternoon that's when the steadier rain comes
in that continues Thursday afternoon and Thursday
night a quarter to a half an inch of rain expected out
of this system i think we will become blustery
again 50s for highs on thursday all right you're
sitting down all right here we go you ready let's
take a look at the six-day planner
because it spells change 62 and cloudy tomorrow rain likely
especially thursday afternoon thursday night 58 for a high friday dry
but extremely windy wind
gusts over 40 miles per hour out of the northwest 52
for a high morning frost on saturday 58 back up to
65 on sunday so now the question is what
is this weather what could it do to our fall foliage i'm
going to talk more about that when i see you
in about eight minutes i'll toss it back to you inside
oh a lot of people interested in that okay tom thanks
a lot of people interested in election
day. We're 21 days out from that. Yeah.
And one race everyone really across the country has their
eyes on is the Texas Senate race.
We're going to have a live report as the vice president makes a
stop in Texas today. Top Republicans are descending
on Texas today for a midterm campaign blitz aimed
at keeping Republicans in control of Congress.
And that includes the vice president, J.D. Vance,
who is in Tyler, Texas, boosting GOP Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
Paxton, the Texas attorney
General is facing Democrat State Representative James Talarico.
Fox's Asher Rudd there right now.
And Asher, some Democrats say Vance's visit proves
Republicans don't view this Senate seat as a sure
thing at all. You know, I've been in Mary the back
and forth between these two candidates is already
fierce enough. But the vice president's rally today here in Tyler,
Texas, was no exception to
that. Now, this is already
a very close Senate race between Texas State Representative James
Tellerico and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton
Democrats think Tellerico has a chance to pull
off something the party hasn't done in decades turn
a Texas Senate seat blue. Now President Trump
won Texas by nearly 14 points two years ago
but fast forward to 2026 and Fox News Power Rankings
is calling this race a toss-up
a recent Fox News poll shows Tellerico leading Paxton with a razor
thin margin. And if he pulls out a victory in November,
it could give Democrats a shot at
securing the Senate majority.
We desperately need change. This government's priorities
are completely backwards.
That new kind of politics can change this state. It can change
this country. I care about a future where Texas keeps growing,
but the only thing that could screw
it up is to elect Tellerico to the United States Senate.
Paxton was not at today's rally. Meanwhile,
Tellerico is back on the campaign trail after more than a week away.
His absence was raising
questions, especially on the right,
with Republicans asking where he was and why he went
missing. Tellerico says he had the flu
and tried to put the focus back on Paxton, accusing his
opponent of refusing to participate in a televised debate.
But Paxton says Tellerico was just trying
to change this subject. Take a listen.
The big story is the fact that he was missing from the
campaign trail. I know he'd love to change the topic to debates,
but big story is two weeks is
a long time to be away with the flu
and it's just a very strange time to disappear. And the candidates
and outside groups supporting them have spent
a combined 280 million dollars so far in this race
and the Republicans have already outspent
the Democrats by more than 110 million dollars.
The vice president has very similar events just like
this one scheduled for later this week
in Michigan and in Georgia. Back to you.
Asher Rudd reporting there in Tyler, Texas. Thank you.
Well, Disney on Ice is making its yearly return to the Fiserv Forum.
A look at when the show is up
and running and how you can get your hands on some tickets.
And before we go to break,
hey, a reminder, voting today is Fox 6 Instant Poll.
We want to know, where are you watching the game
tomorrow? Game three, and every time I look at this,
more and more of you are voting,
You're just going to watch this thing from home.
But are you a bar person?
Are you stuck at work like me and Mary will be probably?
Let us know in the poll.
Fox6now.com slash poll.
We'll have the results coming up.
You're watching Fox 6 News with Ben Handelman
and Mary Stoker-Smith.
So strange.
I had to turn my air conditioning back on the last couple of days.
Oh, it is hot.
Even at night, it's been a little, you know, warm.
I've opened the windows, but I'm not going that far with the air.
No.
Yeah, well, I mean, we were down to about 70,
69 for a low this morning.
So, yeah, I mean, it was very warm through the overnight.
Dew points have been high, but, oh, it's all about to change.
Yeah, the heat's going to be on here in just a matter of days.
Let's talk about how this weather change could impact our fall colors.
So we're really changing just up to the north.
It is seeping south here, which means within the next two weeks,
we are going to reach our peak in terms of fall colors.
Now, the weather forecast, I think, is going to play quite a role here.
We're calling for a quarter to a half an inch
of rain on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.
That could weigh the leaves down.
And then Friday, well, it's going
to be breezy tomorrow and also on Thursday.
Friday, the wind is going to come in out of the northwest,
gusting over 40 miles per hour.
And that is not what we want during leaf peeping season
because not only could the rain weigh the leaves down,
but then you have the wind that's obviously going
to blow a lot of them right off.
So I do believe we're going to have a lot
of these leaves blowing off the trees in the next couple of days.
Hopefully they can hang on long enough because within the next
two weeks, that's when we're going to see the peak around here.
The colors have been great up to the north.
And again, fingers crossed here that the leaves can stay
on the trees later on this week.
But it's kind of a rough forecast for leaf peeping season
for Thursday and again on Friday.
If they survive, the weekend actually looks great
for leaf peeping season with a lot of sun around here.
So we'll keep you posted.
In fact, I'll take you through hour
by hour coming up in a couple of minutes.
But, guys, we got some tumultuous weather on the way later this week.
Back over to you.
Tumultuous?
Okay.
Big word Tuesday.
I was going to say that.
T-U-M.
Yeah.
Oh, boy.
Nothing tumultuous on the road right now
as we look at our traffic tracker.
No major time to tell you about.
Just your typical, typical rush hour on a Tuesday.
Brewers aren't playing, so everybody's just kind of kicking back
and doing their thing tomorrow.
as people head out and about to friends house
or whatever it could be a different story
in the meantime we're just a couple weeks away
from election day district 21 state senate race
remains one of the most important
to actually determine the control of the senate
Trevor Young the Democratic candidate for that seat
was touring an affordable housing project
today in Racine being built by Habitat
for Humanity Young was talking to new and aspiring
homeowners about the affordability
of homes throughout Wisconsin saying this focus it's a
big part of his campaign.
Young also still facing allegations of campaigning on City Time.
The Racine DA did not respond to comment on the status
of the investigation into that allegation.
Well, it's absolutely not true.
I mean, you've got scheduled posts on Facebook, and if this is
the worst thing that they're talking about,
it's because there's nothing else that they have to
offer Wisconsinites. People are talking about how expensive it
is to buy a house. People are
talking about how expensive their utility bills,
their grocery bills are. And so making up these
fake controversies that started from conservative talk radio
is not how you're going to address
solving people's, you know,
affordability crisis that everybody's facing. Election day is November
3rd. We're going to have more coverage of this race
for you on that day, of course. The Racine
Public Library has just started a program
that has already helped dozens of people. It's providing
social service hours on Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is completely free
to the public and people can walk in for help whenever it's open.
The program, it provides
one-on-one time with a social worker
who can connect people to a ton of resources. That
includes housing help, food pantry lists,
mental and behavioral health assistance, employment
referrals, and even free bus passes.
The story behind the woman providing the social work and
how the service could be growing more soon stay
with us that's coming up new on Fox 6 News at 6
looking forward to telling you about that well

Christmas present.
Every year it seems that we go.
Nice.
I hope Amelia's still into it.
You never know.
It's like, when's that going to turn off?
Hopefully not for a long time.
Yeah, you get tickets, you're going to be into it.
You better be into it.
We're into the Brewers.
They're in Los Angeles today.
They're going to be playing some baseball tomorrow night.
Yeah, they're running through all the drills today.
but a singular at-bat from last night in Milwaukee
that is the stamp of this series so far.
Tim Van Buren has the story in just a minute.
You're watching Fox 6 Sports with sports director Tim Van Buren.
The Brewers will get their next chance at the Dodgers tomorrow evening,
but besides looking forward, a moment in Monday's game bears reviewing.
Jake Bowers had what Fox Sports analyst John Smoltz called
the best postseason at-bat he's ever seen.
That would be John Smoltz,
who was in 25 postseason series as a pitcher himself
and has broadcast how many more since then?
Here's Lily Zhao.
You talk about having some key moments in a Brewers playoff victory.
One of those was Jake Bauer's 12th pitch
at bat against Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
That outing lasted 7 minutes and 15 seconds,
and he got the best of Yamamoto by drawing a walk.
It's one of those key moments that's made him
so special and this win as well.
It just got to a certain point where it
was it was straight compete mode a
little bit of like blackout just kind
of in flow a little bit competing it was
fun it was a fun at bat
and I just I knew that was a moment where the guys
needed something. I was just telling
someone he knew he was in a good spot it
looked like he took fouled off
his best fastball and his best splitter like
back-to-back two really tough pitches
to cover it just looked like he wasn't
cheating. He was seeing it well and usually had a good result.
The Brewers' patience at the plate,
their inability to chase against these Dodgers pitchers,
is why they were so successful in game
two. We'll see if they can do the same thing in game three,
and that is Wednesday night in Los
Angeles. Reporting from American Family Field, Lily Zhao, Fox 6 Sports.
Good stuff, Lily. Thank
you. The Brewers and Dodgers, of course,
squarely in the moment right now, but there will come a
time they're in their next phase of life.
That's the case for former Brewers pitcher Scott Linebrink.
who continues to find purpose in his post-playing days.
Ben, some of that purpose is helping current players.
Interesting way he's doing that.
I go beyond the game with Linebrink tonight on Fox 6 News at 9.
He said he really enjoyed his short time in Milwaukee,
and he loved the cheese curds.
I love checking back in with all the old players,
and they tend to be family.
If you go to their spring training facility,
every single player who has ever worn the uniform,
even if it was for a day, are there.
It's like you're in the family forever if you're a Brewer.
Yeah, if you're a Brewer, you are a Brewer forever,
and a lot of those guys have embraced it.
Some of them have been on the scoreboard out
at the ballpark during the playoffs.
The Brewers have invited them to kind of get the crowd going,
and they're all called Brewer legend.
It doesn't matter who you are.
You're called Brewer legend up there on the scoreboard.
It is amazing when you go back to how many teams have made the playoffs
in the last few years, and you go back to some of the rosters,
how much they really do change over.
You don't realize it when it happens from year to year.
But, yeah, good stuff.
We'll have plenty more Brewer stories, I'm sure, for this week.
It's been so fun.
No doubt.
Tim, thanks. Stay with us. More Fox 6 News at 5 coming up.
Drum roll, please.
We've got the results of today's Fox 6 Instant Poll.
We asked, where are you watching Game 3 of the NLCS tomorrow night?
And 81% of you are like, I'm not leaving my couch.
Maybe it's your bed, even, depending how late it is,
if you've got a TV in your bedroom.
81% of you.
1% of you will be in Los Angeles, and I'm jealous of that 1%.
5% are like, we're going out.
It's a bar night.
I've got to watch with my friends
and my people to see the games on the road out there in Los Angeles.
Well, it would be great to be in L.A. because it sounds like
the weather is going to be turning and our L.A. sun is leaving.
I was going to say, we're in the 4%.
We will be watching from work.
We'll be here at work.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Well, you guys, yeah, absolutely.
With that sunshine, it hasn't been great the last couple days.
But, oh, the weather is turning.
That's for sure. In fact, even near the lake this afternoon,
that lake breeze kicked in.
Let me show you what's going on, first of all,
with thunderstorms on the radar,
one of which is severe out in Iowa right now with some small hail.
But as you see, as they cross the river into Wisconsin,
they kind of start to weaken a little bit.
So I'm not concerned about severe weather around here,
but a few more are popping up along the Minnesota border as well.
So I think we will get a couple of showers
and some rumbles as we go past eight o'clock tonight.
So after eight to nine o'clock, this will be sweeping through the area.
Again, not expecting anything too crazy out of it, but some heavy
downpours, maybe a little bit of lightning if that survives.
By midnight, this will be done.
So just a little system coming on through,
kind of zipping by mid to late evening here.
That is gorgeous, isn't it?
Let me step out of the way.
Look at this view over downtown tonight.
77, that was our high today.
69, our low this morning.
And that is because dew points were still very high.
We were just so warm, well above average on both counts,
although our low will dip below this.
by midnight tonight. 7:03 our sunrise this morning
and we're close to our sunset this evening at 612
and again gorgeous sky looking from our Estero Park Tower camera.
So here we are at 69. That's
actually now the low for the day
so we'll drop below that here as we go throughout the night.
Wind out of the southeast. We've cooled things down near
the lake. Dew points have dropped a
little bit. Air pressure has come up since last night.
Now temperatures 60s and 70s on the map.
see the difference here, though.
68 Plymouth, 67 South Milwaukee, 78 Yorkville. So it's a very
narrow lake breeze, but it is there close to the lakeshore.
Now, a tiered temperature system
across the state. 60s up to the north,
50s even farther north into the northwoods there of
Rhinelander, 48 up in Marquette, Michigan.
And yes, the cooler air is on the way. Now,
they're expecting severe thunderstorms down across
the plains tonight. That's where the
heavier storms will be we may see just a couple
of storms come through this evening the bigger
story though the cool down the rain
and then the wind let's get into sky vision plus let's take
you through here hour by hour
and as we go throughout the night tonight here come those
showers again maybe a few rumbles i would say after eight
o'clock for a start time and by
midnight it's moving on out
so again it's going to be a very narrow window for a couple of
thunderstorms coming
on through tomorrow much cooler blustery cloudy highs in the low 60s so
big difference from where we were today now
the thursday rain primarily in the afternoon and this
could be a quarter to a half an inch of rain coming on in for thursday
so thursday afternoon
thursday night look to be rainy here's your six-day planner again 62
and cloudy tomorrow
58 and rainy on Thursday, 52 on Friday
with northwest winds gusting over 40 miles per hour
and then frost Saturday morning with a warm-up Sunday and Monday.
That is a forecast of change
over the next several days.
It's the latest from here on the deck. Back to you inside.
I'm gonna have to bring a couple skeletons into the garage.
Oh yeah, don't want those walking off
or running off flying down the street right well
the war in the middle east it continues to expand
at least 20 people including one american have
been killed in a week in attacks in saudi arabia
by iran backed houthi rebels
and now saudi arabia says it will keep its main airport closed
until sunday as airlines cancel flights
and commercial traffic remains halted a houthi
official said there will be quote swift
and painful responses if the u.s joins the fight
Some experts say in order to fight both Tehran and the Houthis,
the U.S. will need to build a coalition.
What I think the president needs to do is take a deep breath here.
Our allies need to be involved here.
There is time to plan a comprehensive strategy.
You're never going to have a nuclear weapon,
and it's going to end very soon.
And as soon as it ends, your gasoline comes down.
This all comes as six vessels were hit
in the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend.
President Trump says that he won't order new strikes
on Iran until after the midterm elections.
Meanwhile, here's a look at current gas prices out there.
Right now, the Milwaukee area is averaging around $4.06 a gallon.
It's up two cents from yesterday.
State average sitting a little higher, around $4.12 a gallon,
which is actually down about a penny from yesterday.
Wisconsin still remains below the national average of $4.29.
We talked with GasBuddy earlier today
on Fox 6 Now about what's keeping prices high right now.
I've uncovered or at least believe there may
be some refinery issue happening here again locally in the Great Lakes.
This is the normal time of year when a refinery is doing maintenance.
It doesn't seem to be a huge problem, not at least like
that ExxonMobil refinery that lost power about a month ago.
But we're seeing a big jump,
especially for diesel in the Great Lakes region.
And I hate to have to give you this warning,
but it does look like diesel prices could eventually
start going back up here in the days ahead.
Unfortunately, it's been all about refineries this year,
less about the price of oil.
And I haven't put my finger on quite which refinery yet.
There's a lot of different ways to try and get about the information.
But none of those traditional sources has pointed me
in an obvious direction.
Patrick DeHaan there from GasBuddy.
Make sure to stream Fox 6 Now this evening, 6:30.
I'm going to be jumping on,
and there's some interesting public meetings happening tonight.
We're going to jump into those.
You can watch it on your Fox Local app,
so download that now, fox6now.com, or even our YouTube page.
Check that out.
