A taste of summer today on Long Island with a big temperature change for the weekend

Rich now with the weather. And a warm day, maybe even a hot day. I'm excited about this one. The taste of summer out here. The big question will be, we have some clouds coming in during the afternoon. If they can hold off, we're into the 80s. If they come in a little sooner, we're around 78 degrees. So that's one of the things we're watching. Not a big problem. No, I can live with 78, yeah. There is a slight chance of an isolated shower, too, with this warm air coming in. Most of the day will be dry. But look at our numbers outside right now. These numbers are what our typical average high temperature for this time of year is, which is 65 degrees. 66 right now in Montauk, 65 in Islip, 67 in Medford, 64 in Hempstead. So it's a warm day, and here are some of those records. At Islip Airport, 81, so record forecast high is 78. Over towards Farmingdale, your record high is 78, forecasting 79. So you get the idea. We're a couple degrees within record highs for today, so the warm air is there. it does become a bit breezy. Out the door right now, you have sunshine coming your way once the sun comes up towards around 7 a.m. Now, at the bus stop this morning in Valley Stream, 65 warm towards 7 to 8 o'clock this morning. Sun and clouds this afternoon, slight chance of a shower in Valley Stream around 1 to 2 o'clock this afternoon. There may be a quick isolated shower developing with the warm air coming through, and you'll see that here. Here's 12, 15. If the clouds hold off we get to around 80 away from the water much cooler weather south shore and the east end now around two o'clock here's where that isolated shower comes in notice not everybody gets wet this afternoon so we're going to watch this very closely the big story here again we have the warm weather conditions and then towards tonight a cold front goes on through it'll dry us out it'll be cooler it'll be dry tomorrow morning so today's like a summer day it's warm it's a little bit humid you wake up on your Thursday morning temperatures are in the lower 50s it's dry it's comfortable lots of sunshine Thursday afternoon temperatures will be in the 60s for tomorrow and then as we go towards Friday another cold front comes our way and that'll lead to a few more rain showers and then the colder weekend so as this cold front approaches Friday evening there will be the threat of a couple of thunderstorms as well look at a gusty winds Friday afternoon, maybe near 40 miles per hour Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, so we'll deal with strong gusty winds. Here's what we have for today. 70s to around 80 degrees, slight chance of that shower this afternoon. Overnight, skies are clearing. Cooler weather conditions, lows are in the 40s, 50s, 60s. Thursday, rain showers on Friday, gusty winds, but right now, the good news, your weekend is dry. Out the door this morning, storm, rain loads well. Watching dry conditions now.
