Market brings fresh vegetables to AZ communities

Next time you need some produce, this might be a great option. Yeah, Irene Snyder checking out the Farm Express mobile market. Hey guys, you can see this giant bus behind me and it is such a cool concept. It's called Farm Express and we have Sam here for us today to tell us more about it. So what is the concept here, Sam? Thanks. Farm Express is our fleet of mobile produce markets that travel Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa selling fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables at affordable prices, trying to break down some of those barriers to accessing healthy foods in the communities that struggle. And what types of produce do we have here? Oh, we've got all manner of stuff. On any given day, we have about 20 to 30 items. All fresh produce, things people know and love like bananas, avocados, apples, citrus, lettuce, tomatoes. Also a rotating cast of products that have been grown here in Arizona, here in the Valley. When it's not so hot, the fun stuff's coming in like pumpkins and peppers and soon to be local citrus. And what different areas does this bus go to? Yeah, we serve a lot of communities that struggle with healthy food access. So that might look like senior residential communities that don't have easy access to vehicles or transportation. That might look like places where people are already gathering. So convenience is a big part of it for us, like city libraries, community health centers and other community centers, too. Wonderful. And why is it so important to you that you're a part of something like this? You know, I think for us, making the healthy choice, the easy choice is really important. and we see a direct line between those healthy choices and building healthy communities, helping families thrive, and putting healthy food on the table. That's wonderful. And if people are watching this today and they're like, oh, I want to be able to get some food off that bus, how can they do that? Can they go somewhere online and look up where it's going to be? Yeah, at activatefoodaz.org, you can see our schedule for the rest of the calendar year. All of our sites listed are open to the public, whether they're at a public library or a residential center. If you see the bus, you can come visit the bus. This is, what, 930 to 330? Typically, we do our business from 930 to 330. Perfect. Thank you so much. You're 930 to 330. I got that. Thank you very much for your time today. We appreciate it. And thank you for all the work you're doing in the community. We'll send it back to you.
