Well, speaking of that, President Trump and former President
Obama obviously don't see eye to eye on pretty much anything.
Yeah, but the subject of their latest dispute
is not at all what you'd expect.
Fox News' Teresa Priolo explains how the Cheesecake Factory got wedged
in the middle of a fight between the two.
Known for its massive menu, decadent desserts,
and decor that's anything but subtle,
the Cheesecake Factory now at the center of a political controversy.
The White House
The former president delivering that line at a campaign rally in Ohio,
mocking President
Trump's love of gold and his White House makeover,
including plans for a new ballroom.
The comment didn't exactly go over well at the White House.
I fix things very good, very...
Beautifully and I always build beautiful and inexpensive,
which is a good combination if you can do.
The White House did try to get in on the joke by posting
a spoof menu of what they view as the president's accomplishments.
But here at the actual Cheesecake Factory,
diners we spoke with are far less concerned about the politics.
Everybody's got to make a dig about somebody else.
And, you know, they want to do it that way. That's fine.
Personally, I think that the president can spend
a heck of a lot more time.
On things other than decorating the White House.
I think, why is Obama talking?
It doesn't bother me.
Like I said, I'm not an uptight person.
I'm not a sensitive person.
Branding expert Mark DeMassimo says all
the unexpected attention could actually be good
for business, as long
as the restaurant doesn't take the political bait.
I don't see anything but upside for the brand.
And I track brands after crisis.
And many of them...
in the fairly near-term benefit from crisis if they handle it well.
So far, the company has stayed silent on the controversy.
And with the chain reporting more than
a billion dollars in quarterly revenue,
it's clear the restaurant has plenty on its plate.
For his part, President Obama says his critics are missing the point.
He's got nothing against the Cheesecake Factory.
In fact, he says it was his jam for about a decade
when he was raising his daughters.
In Wayne, New Jersey, Teresa Priolo, Fox 5 News.
