As well as our lovely daughter, Audrey.
Give it up for Audrey.
The effort you all put into this campaign,
the effort that you all invested into our state,
is really incalculable.
I want you to know how much all Texans
appreciate everything you have done
to keep Texas, Texas.
Also, I want you to know that before coming up here right now,
after looking at all the details of every county in the entire state,
I made the decision to go ahead and call Gina Hinojosa
and congratulate her on winning
this race for governor
of the state of Texas.
There are still votes to be counted, but mathematically,
we're not going to be able to win this election.
I let Gina know that I would assist
her and her team in a period of transition.
But I also want everybody to know.
The thing that I'm most proud about
is that you all helped me to be your governor for 12 years.
Thank you very much.
I love our state.
It's been an honor to serve it.
And know that we are leaving Texas
in far better shape than it's ever been.
Together we have accomplished a lot. Texas was just recognized
as having the best business climate of any state in the United States.
During my time as governor, we've added more than 2.6 million new jobs,
with higher paychecks and lower unemployment than ever before.
Under my watch, Texas became the headquarters of business headquarters.
We have robust business courts.
We rank number one for the production
and exportation of semiconductors.
And we ensured that the future of space exploration will launch
from right here in the Lone Star State.
It wasn't just the economy.
We also revolutionized higher education.
I made a promise when I was first elected
to make Texas number one for research universities.
As we gather tonight, Texas ranks number one among
all states for Tier 1 research universities.
We put our teachers on a pathway to earning more than $100,000.
Hundreds of thousands of teachers today are earning more than $100,000
providing a quality education to our kids across the state.
We also took a step down the pathway I wanted to achieve,
and that is a step to make Texas number one
in America for educating our children.
We built a water infrastructure for generations to come,
and we fully restored the power grid.
The Texas power grid has added more power than any other state,
produces more electricity than the second and third states combined.
Never before have we had a power grid this strong in the United States.
But maybe most importantly,
we protected Texans when they needed it the most.
When the border was left wide open,
we stepped up and we secured our border.
We put together a task force and we arrested
dangerous repeat offenders and got them off
the streets and put them where they belong, and that is behind bars.
We went after gangs
and foreign terrorist organizations
and put them behind bars and put them out of our state.
And I signed a law to ensure that our law enforcement officers
will never be defunded by their city or their county.
I want to thank
my incredible campaign team.
My campaign team, it really,
when you think about their journey,
it's an unbelievable path to have somebody who goes through
a situation in life where they literally can no longer walk.
To becoming a productive lawyer and judge, and then on the pathway
to be governor of the great state of Texas that would
not have happened without my incredible campaign team over the years.
Also want to thank everybody
who served with me in the governor's office.
Currently, formerly, during my entire tenure as governor,
you all were a supreme team.
I cannot thank you enough for everything you did
for the people of the state of Texas.
Always remember this.
Texas was built by the bold.
Men and women who believe they could transform
a vast wilderness into a land of opportunity and prosperity.
We are the sons and daughters of the liberty they fought for.
We believe in freedom over fear, God over government,
and the bona fide greatness of this great place, Texas.
And that will
never change.
The story of Texas is nearly 200 years old.
And one that will continue to be shaped by you and generations to come.
Leading this state has been the greatest honor I've ever had.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your love.
Thank you for making Texas, Texas.
God bless you all and God bless the great state of Texas.
Thank you.
Thank you guys, very much.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Take care.
I appreciate everything you've done, man.
I didn't think the guy would be like that.
Thank you.
It's crazy. I'm sure you guys can see
what's going on across the country.
It's a wipeout.
I have some stuff,
can I hand you this package?
Is this a challenge?
He said you called him.
We appreciate that.
