West Philadelphia residents react to missing 10-year-old girl

Philadelphia, there's still no sign of 10 year old Jalasia Alford, known by her loved ones as Malaysia. Last seen on the 500 block of North Simpson Street more than a week ago. Our Dawn Timoney live at police headquarters with the latest on this investigation. Dawn. Well, Jason, it seemed like police had something to go on this afternoon, moving their investigation to a new location not too far from the little girl's foster home in West Philadelphia. But ultimately, they came up empty, finding the remains of an animal. So now it's back to square one. Guy Fawkes over Cobbs Creek. Park behind the senior bocce club this afternoon at Vine and Daggett Streets in West Philadelphia. The police crime unit cordoning off and scouring the area. Our sources confirming the search connected to the disappearance of 10-year-old Jalaysha Alford, also known as Malaysia, to her family. The little girl missing for at least 10 days now. The area, a short walk from where she lived with her foster mom in the 500 block of North Simpson Street. Investigators, however, coming up empty. Sources telling us they found the remains of an animal. Right now, it's a sad time. To knowing that I've been living on this block so long, we have never seen anything like this. Philadelphia police have been monitoring the house since Monday, and law enforcement sources tell us at least one cadaver dog assisted in the search. They were joined by the FBI yesterday, searching for cameras that might have video. Police also using a drone. Millicent Armstrong-Gray says the FBI questioned her and looked at her security video. I think I remember seeing her twice. Two times, but other kids I've seen, but I only remember seeing her twice. A woman whose sources confirm is Alford's foster mom was seen leaving the home today, but had nothing to say to us. Police sources tell us Alford went to school on Thursday, October 22nd, was seen coming home, but nothing since. She did not attend school on the 23rd. Sources say she was reported missing on Monday, October 26th. When I first heard it, I'm like... Is this somebody that lives on the block where they're passing through because there's a school up there? It baffled my mind for a while to think what the heck is going on here. The neighborhood is reeling as the days pass with no word on Alford. Alford's aunt telling us her foster mom told her the child was with her biological mother, but she says no family members have her. I think everybody's concerned. Everybody is concerned what is going on. It's very sad. The little girl's family says the child is not the type to just go off with anyone. She is four feet 11 inches tall. She weighs 70 pounds, wears glasses and was last seen wearing her navy blue school uniform. Anyone with any information at all is asked to call 911 or Southwest detectives.
