Are you already on Wikisana?
I would like to welcome you again to our interview in the Colopium format.
My guests today are Dr. Friederike Wichelt,
Professors Alexander Rondeck and Thomas Rau.
Today we are dealing with the question,
what would happen if fats were healthy?
Stay tuned, we'll start in a moment.
Welcome, everyone.
Nice to have you here.
I'm looking forward to a conversation about the topic of fats.
Fats are probably the first thing you think of.
Oh God, fats, I'm going to get fat.
No, nonsense.
Fats are an important part of our body.
The question is, what would happen if fats were healthy?
Now you certainly divide it back into healthy and unhealthy fats.
At least that's what I've heard so far.
Absolutely.
The question is wrong.
The question is wrong?
How healthy are fats?
Yes, okay.
They are not unhealthy.
They are at most the wrong use of fats.
And destroying them by cooking or by finished products.
But fats themselves should represent a large part of our diet.
But the right ones.
For example, the brain consists of about 60%, if not more, of fat.
Not just the fat tissue.
Every cell has, and this is the important thing now,
every cell has a three-layered cell membrane.
And it's lipophilic on the outside, hydrophilic, lipophilic.
And the two layers of fat of each cell and even of each mitochondrion
are elementary important.
Without fat, the cells are destructible.
That means they macerate.
Their cell walls lose vitality.
Only the lipids, i.e. the fatty acids,
I'll come back to that later,
in the cell wall at all,
guarantee that a cell membrane potential,
namely the vitality of the cell, can be built up.
And the causes of many degenerative diseases,
i.e. for example heart diseases,
or for example cancer diseases,
or even cancer diseases themselves,
are partly due to wrong fats,
or simply a lack of fats.
So there are good and bad ones.
I am surprised how little this analysis,
which can be done,
simple and even cost-effective in every laboratory,
how little it is done in autoimmune diseases,
or in chronic infectious diseases,
or in your athletes.
He is a specialist in sports medicine,
and his people also need the good fats.
Now there are good and bad ones,
and unfortunately it is the case that my patients,
such as autoimmune patients or cancer patients
who come to me,
they often have,
well, practically all of them,
inflammatory fatty acids,
i.e. the arachidonic acid,
the linoleic acid and the palmitic acid,
palmitic acid,
I am falling into a trance,
palmitic acid is ubiquitous everywhere today,
palm oil is even put into bread,
palm oil is in mayonnaise,
palm oil is, is, is,
everywhere,
and this leads to chronic infectious diseases in humans,
the athletes come to you because they have muscle pain,
they come to us biological doctors because they have cancer,
that's not the only reason, of course,
but today we know that,
a new term,
silent inflammation,
the chronic hypotensive inflammation,
has a lot to do with it,
or the leaky gut,
something modern,
everyone has a leaky gut today,
also this,
this tight junction,
which is the tightness of the intestinal mucosa
between the cells, so to speak,
that toxins cannot slip through,
can only be built up
if there are high-quality lipids,
fats are good and must be absorbed,
and if we look at Boudic,
or Gerson,
or Hippocrates Clinic,
or our clinic,
or your Swiss Mountain Clinic,
we give good oils to people,
I give olive oil,
or I give flaxseed oil,
or everyone knows today
that EPA and DHA are particularly good,
and these are these fats,
they are called fish oil,
because they are generally obtained from fish skins,
from North Sea fish,
these are the high-quality ones,
and we simply need them,
even the cardiologists know that
the omega-3 fatty acids are very, very important,
because they protect, they make the cells elastic,
they prevent the erythrocytes from clumping,
but they slip nicely through the capillaries,
so fats are healthy,
but you should not just fry animal fats,
because then they are broken,
and that's the bad thing,
that we simply have wrong fats in our food,
people don't get fat because of the fats,
people get fat because of the carbohydrates
and because of the wrong insulin production,
I think I'll pass the word on to you,
because that's your topic.
Of course I liked the part with the cardiologists,
because there is a whole cascade
that you know and can explain well,
because if I have too little omega-3,
omega-3 is anti-inflammatory,
so against an inflammation,
if I have too little,
a factor starts with us,
it's called NFK-PAP,
you don't have to remember that,
but that's the boss,
who starts the whole inflammation cascade,
and when it starts, when it goes down,
then inflammation occurs in the body,
inflammation occurs in the body,
so he is the starter,
with each inflammation it leads to
a different reactive nervous system,
how does it react?
The sympathic switch on,
sympathic is fighting or fleeing,
and when fighting or fleeing,
you fight, pulse goes up,
blood pressure goes up,
cardiologist, now I have a silent inflammation,
so this inflammation starts,
no matter if it starts in the intestine,
or wherever, it starts,
and I have an inflammation in the body,
I have an increased blood pressure,
and then the cardiologist,
if he is wise,
he would say,
I try to lower the blood pressure,
by giving, for example,
omega-3,
or just a cheap combination of oils,
because you know,
it also depends on the ratio
omega-3 to omega-6,
but it's not that easy,
that there is only black and white,
but it is sometimes a bit more complex,
nevertheless,
I give you 100% right,
omega-3 is missing,
anti-inflammatory is missing,
pro-inflammatory,
inflammatory fats,
they are dominant,
and there you can do a lot,
you can see
that there is an inflammation
in the body,
and we see the influence
on our entire
cardiovascular system,
on the whole body,
you can do a lot,
and I don't know how it is
for you in practice,
but certainly also,
if you have noticed this hype
about Anthony William,
but it's really like that,
just like years ago,
there was this wave,
everyone who wanted to lose weight
ate low-fat,
now the patient comes to you
and he only eats bananas,
mangoes, heavy metal detox shake,
and I don't know what,
he can understand that
in the first phase,
because he felt really dirty,
that it helped him,
but the fear of fat
remained with most people,
they make a big deal about it,
and you see that on all levels,
he doesn't come up
from his loop at all,
and the one who really
studied these books
and saw the videos,
he doesn't understand that fat is important,
that sugar, the fructose
that he takes all day long,
leads to liver disorders,
and so on and so forth,
and insulin,
you can also explain it nicely,
that's our mast hormone,
so if he takes so much grain
all day with the vegans,
and have these insulin picks again and again,
sugar is actually the fat
and not the fat.
Exactly, I could humarm you,
but I can't tell you that.
No, no, no,
that's so good,
and I have to say,
I am 100% in agreement,
I see these people,
these Anthony people,
well, he was blessed
by God,
and ....
He is channeled,
he says his knowledge
is being channeled,
and I have to say
very briefly,
the knowledge that he is channeled
has been around for 10-20 years,
in certain areas,
he only draws out the wrong conclusions,
and leads to an extremely
one-sided diet,
and that makes the problem
actually more difficult.
But now it comes to your topic,
we measure that too,
if I look at these people
who eat fat-free
or almost fat-free,
so it is a sin
to take too much
olive oil or too much
more than a few milliliters
of linseed oil,
I have such patients,
and if you measure their
adrenal activity,
then initially the adrenaline level
is still quite high,
noradrenaline comes up,
and at some point both come down,
and then they are in an almost
no longer compensable
adrenal weakness,
and that has become epidemic
in America,
these patients
with adrenal exhaustion,
they simply
no longer have a pulse,
as we say,
and then you have to
give them
oil, fat,
of course also
vitamin B, for example,
you are the specialist,
but you almost
no longer have a pulse,
and unfortunately I see many people
who are in a blatant
misconduct,
all the fatty acids
low, but then still
in an inflammatory
misconduct, that's the problem.
You also know that
inflammation is actually the start
for a dysplasia,
i.e. a change in the cells,
so everything that goes towards cancer,
because you have the patients,
the starter is very,
very often that the cell
with information,
with inflammatory information,
is shot,
and then comes to a malfunction,
and this malfunction
then comes within the mitochondria,
within the DNA and the reproduction,
it then becomes more and more
a pronounced malfunction,
until the dysplastic
goes into a cancer cell,
so inflammation is
in several respects
just important to understand
and also to use the possibilities
to get them back into the normal range,
and there the fats are
a decisive lever.
Yes, and fats are also the basis
for the whole cholesterol,
for hormones,
for structures in the body,
so you shouldn't think that away,
these people have to understand that too.
Exactly, yes,
many people still
think that cholesterol
with fats is another nonsense,
it is not fat,
but it is a precursor,
a precursor,
the cholesterol
for the adrenal hormones,
the DHEA,
for the sexual hormones,
pregnenolone,
progesterone in women,
testosterone in men,
without cholesterol we cannot
form them,
and in a nonsensical way
give statins,
excuse me, dear viewers,
many of you probably have this,
statins, anti-cholesterol agents,
in the completely wrong view
that cholesterol should be reduced,
there is a large study,
the Scandinavian study,
which was done
with high cholesterol levels
and coronary heart disease,
and this was a million-study,
so this has proven
that people who have
high cholesterol
have increased
coronary heart disease.
But now comes the interesting thing,
which is known
by now,
that it is not because of
cholesterol, but because
cholesterol was blocked
by metabolism
and could not be reduced
to DHEA,
the heart protection hormone.
And if you simply
take away the cholesterol
with statins
in an almost insoluble
liver-damaging complex
which then causes liver disorders,
then the patient detoxifies
less, the pharma is happy
because there are chronically ill
but then he has
less DHEA.
And this is the problem,
and we see this in our patients
with their permanent
stress reaction, but no
stress processing capacity
anymore.
I can even explain that to you.
For me, the question is,
why do I have cholesterol,
when the patient absolutely assures me
that his diet is completely reasonable,
where I don't see that cholesterol
is being taken extremely seriously.
Especially since we know
that a cholesterol-poor diet
does not really have such a big
influence on cholesterol,
I ask myself the question,
I have a lot of cholesterol up there,
I know that the next thing
will be the hormone pregnenolone,
which you have already mentioned,
from which all the cascades
go down, that is,
testosterone in men, progesterone,
estrogen in women, DHEA in both
sexes. If I have a lot here
and a little here with pregnenolone,
then I am interested in this conversion.
Now you have to know that
pregnenolone is formed in the mitochondria.
That means, when I know
that there is a lot of cholesterol here,
I am interested in how it is,
how is the pregnenolone.
If it is little, I look at the mitochondria,
because they make pregnenolone
exactly from the cholesterol.
And in 90% of the cases,
I find a mitochondropathy,
i.e. a weakness, a damage
of the mitochondria, i.e. the motors
that make this conversion.
When I know that and think about it,
then I have to take care of the mitochondria,
because the performance is not as good anymore.
And I have to take care of the mitochondria
so that they are powerful again.
And then I get the cholesterol
lowered on a natural way,
because I have again
created a function
and I get the pregnenolone up.
And all of a sudden,
changes of age of a 35-year-old
have disappeared.
And the hormones are
suddenly back in the normal range.
Or the testosterone of the man
suddenly rises again.
Of course, I have to
put the whole thing in a larger context
with stress and so on.
You also know that if I have stress all the time,
then it's about fighting flies
and not about pregnancy.
That means, of course,
I have to change a little
in the overall setting.
But I can show this path
one-to-one.
And that's nothing new.
That's what we learn in school medicine
And you're right.
What do the mitochondria do?
The fat burning.
In order to activate my mitochondria,
I have to consume the fats.
I have to eat them.
And of course not from today to tomorrow
switch to a ketogenic diet
when I'm used to carbohydrates.
But slowly I have to adapt
more and more
to really be able to
use the full mitochondrial activity.
We have understood that
eating is difficult.
As it always is,
in order to keep our orchestra upright,
we simply need the good of everything.
If I can put it that way.
But not of everything,
because we exclude
animal fats here.
Yes.
There are of course better
and less good.
Theoretically, animal fats
would not be so bad
if they were not changed.
But who eats
from good biological animals?
The meat still raw.
Nobody does that.
Yes, that would be
totally not good.
But as soon as you heat it,
these animal fats
denature.
That's the problem.
That's why people have high LDL
and so on.
Although, as you said,
there are other mitochondrial things
but we tell people
you want to
regulate the house a bit.
Take a spoon
of linseed oil,
a soup spoon,
a tablespoon of linseed oil
per day.
We give that to people in our hotel.
And take
one to two teaspoons
of omega-3 fatty acids,
fish oil.
We have very good products.
I'm not a fan of capsules.
In order to get enough
omega-3 fatty acids,
you would have to take
so many capsules
that over time the capsule material
plays a big part
and is simply no longer good.
That's why we give it
in the form of liquid.
I don't know how you do it.
Similar.
For me, one more sentence is important.
I'll just use it now.
There is always
this hype.
There is always something new
in medicine.
You always get a healing promise.
If you do it this way,
everything will pass.
If you've been in medicine for a long time,
you know these waves.
You try to explain to the patient
that it's not
quite like that.
You have to see it in this and that context.
You always have to understand one thing.
Personalized medicine.
I look at the person
sitting in front of me.
Not everyone tolerates
so much fat.
Not everyone tolerates
so much fat.
But I have to go into it.
If he says, I have a stomachache afterwards,
because my stomach doesn't tolerate it yet,
I say, okay, I understand.
We'll start small and
we'll get you there.
But not plagiarism.
The dosage you said
is absolutely good.
Everyone tolerates it.
It is also sufficient
to have enough
of this good fat.
But you have to be careful.
Whether it's an
Atkins diet or
it's just a paleo diet.
And whenever
it's very one-sided,
our gut will constantly rebel.
It will say, wait a minute,
please do it individually
and don't follow the hypes so much.
Exactly.
Wonderful.
I got a lot of information
that is very valuable.
And I think it's also very valuable
for the viewer.
I have one more question.
Because you already mentioned
Omega 3 and Omega 6.
Omega 9 also plays a role.
And the balance between all these
or these three?
I don't have it in my head now.
Omega 3 to Omega 6
should be about
1 to 6.
Omega 3
should be 6 parts.
But you mentioned
too much Omega 6,
for example.
This pro-inflammatory,
inflammatory.
We always find in the labs
that this is more pronounced
and Omega 3, which works
against inflammation,
is mostly a deficit.
And where does Omega 6 come from?
Through animal products,
through the fat oils.
You can replace it
with sesame seeds
and pumpkin seed oil
and such things.
But then you need so many
flax seeds and so many pumpkin seeds.
That's just simply nobody.
So that's why we take the oil.
Pumpkin seed oil is good.
Sesame oil would also be decent.
I am also a supporter
of olive oil,
which is not an Omega 3 fatty acid,
but it's the only one.
But it has to be super organic.
That was the question.
That's the only thing you can heat.
So if you still want to fry
things in your diet,
I'm not necessarily
against it,
then take it with olive oil.
Just heat it very slowly.
Not super strong,
but really slowly
temper it high.
And not temperatures over 200 degrees.
So I would take coconut oil
or clarified butter.
I don't know how they do it
in the Ayurvedic kitchen,
because that doesn't form
the trans-fat acids.
Last question,
how do I find a good quality
oil as a consumer?
Do I always stand in front of the shelf
or don't I find it
in the supermarket?
Yes, that's difficult.
Doctor out, olive oil.
But no,
that was meant ironically.
Of course, it's clear to me
that the viewers can't have that.
There are these
cold-pressed
from organic
olive trees.
There really are.
But you just have to know
that they are expensive.
Andalusian oil
is simply not organic.
And if you get an oil
for 12 to 15 euros
per liter,
then it's not a properly cared
oil. It's impossible.
It's simply impossible.
We produce our own,
and if we don't even
calculate our costs,
we're already about 20 francs.
But that's really
problematic.
Most olive oils,
even if they are extra virgin,
are simply
not pure enough.
Okay, but
if you look, you'll find.
And with the right advice,
maybe you'll come
to the right oil.
In the end,
we also have
enough experts
and recommendations.
Probably also in the format
in which you are involved.
Yes, we also have a good
olive oil from Italy
here with us.
We talk a lot about fats and so on.
So that can't be an excuse
that you don't come to a
qualitatively good oil.
Okay, then I say thank you
very much for this valuable
information, and we hope
to bring it out again
very soon,
so that the attitude towards
fats can be renewed
and old dogmas can be
cleared up, which
were once found
but have been
contradicted for a long time.
Unfortunately, such things
always last
infinitely long
until they can be contradicted
or re-believed.
But our contribution is this show.
Thank you very much
at this point.
I now wish you
to find the right fats
for your health,
and above all,
that you treat your body
well and lovingly.
And if you want to continue
these valuable conversations
with our experts who
are here and beyond,
there are a lot of very
experienced and competent
experts who would be happy to help.
I wish you all the best.
Be loving to yourself and your body.
Again, you can't say it often enough.
See you next time.
Goodbye.
