Welcome to the Winter Library. My name is Winter Kim.
I'm a bit out of it, right? I was supposed to start right here.
It's been a while since I filmed a YouTube video, so I'm a bit out of it.
Today's video, as you can see from the title, is a video introducing philosophical books.
In the past, I've introduced you to books that are really easy to read,
or books that are in the form of cartoons, or books that have a theme of ethics.
But one of the requests I've received a lot is,
I'm curious about the philosophy of academics, but I have no idea how to approach it.
So please introduce me to books that I can read.
I've been receiving that request for a few years.
I've been receiving requests for a very long time,
and I've been going to graduate school recently, and I've been looking for books that I need.
There must be books that I've had before,
so I read them while comparing them.
If I give you a guideline like this, it could be a little helpful.
There's a way I get help,
so I think I'll be able to tell you some of the things I can tell you.
Now that I've heard it, I've finally made this video in 6 and a half years since I started YouTube.
To be honest, there are things I wasn't confident about.
Because I don't know, I know there are so many things I don't know.
I'm not confident enough to say,
Let's make it if I know a little more.
I've been doing this.
To be honest, I don't think today will be the final edition of today's video.
I haven't read all the books that exist in the world,
and I don't know everything,
so I looked at the books that I could introduce to you in my limited pool.
I hope you look at it with a generous heart.
That's why I'm filming today's video.
So the book I'm going to introduce today is,
for example, a philosophy that asks about the meaning of life,
a philosophy that I can apply to my life right now,
a philosophy of self-development,
and a philosophy of academics.
If you're curious about the philosophy of academics,
why don't you read it in this order?
That's why I chose these books.
So the criteria I chose,
if I tell you the criteria first,
First of all, it's Western philosophy.
I'm really sorry, but I don't know much about Asian philosophy.
So I couldn't choose books that deal with Asian philosophy in more detail.
Actually, I don't know much.
I'm doing it based on Western philosophy.
The second is a book written by a scholar.
Because it's a book to get into the philosophy of academics.
There are cases where non-professionals study philosophy hard.
It's not like that.
It's based on books written by scholars.
I was trying to see if there were any Korean authors.
Because reading a translation,
reading a text in Korean,
There's a difference in the approach to intimacy or sentences.
And there are people who study hard in Korea and write books.
I hope their activities will be known.
I thought about this.
Anyway, for various reasons,
I tried to find as many Korean authors as I could.
It's not all Korean authors.
And another very important criterion is
If you say philosopher, for example,
You think there's going to be one philosopher.
But it's not like that.
Who writes that philosophy?
Depending on the person who writes it,
I see the philosophy very differently.
For example, a relatively famous Western philosopher in Lausanne
The point of view of using Western philosophy
The book I'm going to introduce today
The point of view of introducing philosophy is quite different.
There are many points of view in this philosophy.
For example, the point of view of the United States.
The point of view of analytical philosophy.
The point of view of German philosophy.
The point of view of French philosophy.
Depending on what you major in,
It's different for you to define what philosophy is.
The position on what philosophy is different.
What is meaningful in philosophy?
And what is the most important philosophy now?
Because the position on this is very different.
These various points of view of philosophy
Of course, at the beginning,
It may not be that important.
Nevertheless, as much as possible
The philosophy is wide and deals with various things.
It's not just a difficult thing.
It's not like physics or physics.
There are a lot of things.
I thought it would be nice to show you these things.
I'm having fun with it.
I tried to choose from various perspectives.
Actually, it wasn't perfect.
Maybe it's because I'm not trying hard enough.
In the current situation,
I tried to make it as broad as possible.
If you broaden your point of view,
The philosophy you deal with also widens.
So the field of philosophy you deal with
I want you to try a lot of things.
With this in mind,
I chose some of today's books.
So I chose these five standards.
I'll introduce today's books.
Now, today.
A little different from the usual book introduction.
There is an order.
Today's order is made up of three steps.
The first step is.
What the hell is a theory?
What are you doing?
What is philosophy?
Actually, what is philosophy?
It's a topic that can open a class for a semester.
What is philosophy?
When someone asks,
Oh, read this book.
It's a book that you can recommend.
The second step is.
So what did the philosophers say about it?
It's a step.
So what did the philosophers actually say about those philosophical issues?
It's a book that deals with what kind of position it was.
Of course, it's a little thick.
There's a lot of content.
It's a step like that.
The third step is.
What did the philosophers actually write?
I can't read the original.
I can't just read it.
I'm going to take a little bit of it from the original.
It's a lecture-type book that reads it together.
So I'm going to figure out what philosophy is.
I found out what the philosophers said.
What did they say about it?
It's a three-step way of getting to know each other.
Let's start with step one.
First of all, what the hell is philosophy?
A book that could be the answer to this.
The first step.
A book that could be the first step.
I chose a book that deals with philosophical issues.
What I mean is.
When you say, what is philosophy?
I can give you a philosophical book.
On the other hand, the problems in philosophy.
Philosophy is a subject that explores these topics.
You can say that.
Among those books, the book I chose is.
Ta-da!
The first book in the first button series of the textbook.
Edward Craig's Philosophy.
It's an electronic book, so you might not be able to see it in person.
It's a very light book.
This is a different series.
This is the Hegel series.
It's a light book like this.
The content is not that light.
Of course.
Because it's about philosophy.
But when you say, what is philosophy?
If you open this book.
Philosophy is a textbook that does this.
It's a book where you can think about this.
In this book, it starts with three main themes.
In the first chapter, I start by talking about what kind of textbook philosophy is.
Philosophy is everywhere in your life.
I talk about this.
After talking about something that you can really get a sense of for the first time.
In the second chapter, I have a question about what I should do.
I'm talking about Plato's Criton.
In the third chapter, how do we know?
It's a question of perception.
The first one is, what should I do?
It's probably a question of ethics and political philosophy.
How do we know?
It's a question about perception.
So I'm going to talk about Hume's Miracle.
In the fourth chapter, who am I?
It's a story about the self of a nameless woman.
And then in chapter 5 and 6,
I'm going to talk about a few topics.
I'm going to talk about the more detailed theories and precautions in philosophy.
And in chapter 7, I'm going to talk about interesting works.
When you think about it, it would be nice to read something like this.
For example, Descartes' Methodical Novels.
It's a wide range, right?
I'm going to introduce you to these books.
I'm going to wrap it up with Chapter 8.
I'm going to answer what it means to think about philosophy and study philosophy.
I'm going to wrap it up with that.
Oh, there's one more.
I'm a professional philosopher.
I'm going to wrap it up by explaining how it works to these people.
At the end, I'm going to introduce you to this series of reference documents.
If you look at this reference document,
It also introduces other documents.
And the history of philosophy,
It's a book that gives you a way forward.
So if you start with this book,
I thought it would be pretty good for the first step.
This book isn't that thick.
It may take a little time to read.
It's my first time in.
So it's a little unfamiliar.
It's a process of figuring out what it's like.
It's very good for the first step.
I think it would be nice to take some time to read.
But one thing.
If there's anything that's a little disappointing about this book,
There are many themes of philosophy that are the main themes in this book.
But in this book, a little bit of justice.
I got the impression that the explanation of the existence theory was a little lacking.
I don't think we're dealing with a very important part of this philosophy called existence theory.
The book I mentioned in this book, the reference document, the humanities, the history of philosophy.
The books I recommend in places like this.
Books that don't deal with the field of justice.
Or books that look at philosophy from a different perspective.
I thought it would be nice to start with this book.
I thought it would be nice to connect it with a book with a different point of view that can supplement this.
So I thought I'd put a book that only deals with justice as a bonus.
So I thought I'd introduce it together.
Actually, this is too deep to be a step one.
So after reading the philosophy of the first button series,
Oh, there's something missing here?
There's something missing?
What's that?
If you're curious, it's a little bonus step.
There's a book by Ju Dae-chil called the beginning of general justice.
It's very thin.
And it comes out in a POD style.
Because it's so thin.
How many pages is this?
It's an 81-page book.
If you order this, you can take a picture of it and send it to me.
It's one of the kindest books about general justice.
As far as I know, he studies theology.
It's a book that can introduce you to a different point of view that's not covered here.
It can take a long time to read these 80 pages.
The standard I'm talking about here is...
What's the philosophy?
I'm telling you based on those who are really taking the first step in the philosophy of academics.
If you've taken a class somewhere or read a book,
If you've read a book somewhere or read a book,
It could be a little strange.
But if you read this little by little,
If you read it little by little,
There's another important field in philosophy.
There's a bonus step where you can get this kind of realization.
Actually, I've been thinking a lot about this.
Should I put this in step 2?
But I think I need a book to supplement step 1.
I'm going to tell you this as a bonus step.
So I took my first step.
I found out that philosophy is an academic discipline.
Now, let's go to the second step.
So what did the philosophers say about the problem?
I can't help it when I get to this step.
I have no choice but to read philosophy.
I have a lot of philosophy books.
Of course, there's the famous Russell.
There's a really easy, thin book.
There's a few books.
It's a book I recommend at the beginning.
I can't introduce you to ten books.
Except for the long, detailed, and many books.
Out of the books that end with one book,
I'd like you to choose a philosopher who can supplement the series.
The book I chose in step 2 is this book.
It's a book by Julian Marias called Philosophy as Philosophy.
It's literally a philosopher.
It's a process of philosophy itself.
So this book is a little more...
It's the history of the theory of existence.
So if you read this book alone,
It's not enough.
Of course, this book is also very close to standard philosophy.
Philosophy books basically do their job.
Because you're doing your job.
This book is also a book that deals with standard philosophy very faithfully.
Compared to other philosophy books,
The part that's giving you a little more strength.
There's a little more detail in the middle philosophy.
And that's why the theory of existence and the theory of existence.
Because it's connected to mythology.
There's a little more detail in it.
So I'm going to take some standard philosophy.
I'm going to fill in the gaps in step 1.
It's a little different.
I chose this because it's a philosophy book.
This book is a little lighter than its weight.
It's a light book, so it's similar.
It's lighter than other philosophical books of this size.
I think it'll be a little less burdensome.
With a hope.
Actually, it's burdensome just by the thickness.
I know.
It's a book I chose with a hope.
This book is very broad and faithful in its own way.
So, starting with ancient Greek philosophy,
Before Socrates, Sophists and Socrates,
Plato, Aristoteles, Stoic Epicurus, Simplaton, etc.
The second part is Christianity.
The third part is the middle philosophy.
Some people don't deal with the middle philosophy in detail.
There are quite a few middle philosophies.
The important central themes of the Middle Ages.
Middle philosophers.
St. Anselmus, Dunscotus, William Ockham, etc.
There are middle philosophers like this.
The fourth part is modern philosophy.
Modern philosophy starts with a background.
Pusanus, Bruno.
Descartes in the 17th century.
Decartesianism.
Like Malbrauch.
Spinoza, Leibniz.
Experientialism.
Bacon.
Berkeley, Hume.
Enlightenmentism.
The process of modernization.
German concept theory.
Kant, Peter, Schelling, Hegel.
Schopenhauer.
Then it moves on to the 19th century.
The philosophies related to Confucianism and post-Confucianism.
Then biophysics.
Nietzsche, Kierkegaard.
Then it moves on to modern philosophy.
Brentano.
Then biophysics.
D'Iltai, Simmel, Bergson.
Pragmatism.
Then the philosophy of post-Husserl.
Gacchiron, Heidegger, Ortega.
It's a book that tried to deal with standard philosophy in its own way.
However, it's not a book that covers the very modern world.
Because Heidegger and Ortega end in this line,
it's a little hard to know who the philosophers after them were and what they were doing through this book.
So I thought it would be nice to read this book together next time.
It's a book that came out recently.
It's a book by Park Joon-young called Philosophy Concept.
This book is a philosophy book.
So you have to read a philosophy book at least once to know the development process and flow of philosophy.
You can grasp philosophy with philosophy.
You can see many philosophies based on important concepts and keywords.
This is the book of the post-Husserl.
In the case of this book, I see many philosophers based on very important concepts.
For example, the first chapter is about existence and creation.
It's a very important keyword in philosophy.
Existence and creation.
Chapter 2, principles and causes.
Chapter 3, one and many.
Chapter 4, infinite and infinite.
Chapter 5, coincidence and coincidence.
Chapter 6, subject and other.
Chapter 7, cancer and ignorance.
Chapter 8, virtue and justice.
These are all very important concepts in philosophy.
It's a book that explains the philosophy of philosophers who talked about these concepts first.
I think it would be good to read this book as a pair.
However, this book is a little difficult.
It's a little harder than this book.
When I think about the book I'm reading right now,
It's a book that's a little difficult, so I think you'll read it very slowly.
I told you to read this book slowly.
It's a book that feels similar.
First of all, from existence and creation.
Existence, creation, creation?
It's a book that you have to read one by one.
It's not fake from the beginning.
It declares that philosophy will look like this from the beginning.
This book is like a common instant humanities book.
I don't do anything that smashes the brains of readers in a concise language.
In fact, philosophy is a betrayal of daily life.
Sometimes it's like a tsunami.
That's the philosophy.
That's why it's a concept.
That's what the rumors say.
Get ready for it.
I think it would be good to read it slowly and long.
I'm getting some help, too.
For example, in the subject of one and many,
Parmenides is different.
Aristoteles is different.
Descartes, Leibniz, Spinoza, Hegel, and Marx.
Deleuze and New Theory also appear in these three chapters.
It's literally a concept.
It introduces philosophers who use that concept.
It's fun to tie it up like this.
It's a book that I'm getting a lot of help from.
It's like a mythological step.
I recommend that you read this book together in step 2.
And a little easy book.
A little easy book.
This book is even free.
I'm sure some of you know this book.
Aladdin planned it himself.
After choosing philosophers,
I asked the researchers of the philosophers.
Please write a letter introducing this philosopher.
And what kind of book should I read?
I asked you to write it down.
Each researcher sent me a letter about the philosopher.
It's a philosophical book that you can get from Aladdin.
It's an electronic book.
It's a book that was planned for the 15th anniversary of the founding of Aladdin.
The Aladdin library team was planned by Park Taek-eun and Park Ha-young.
Hong Sang-hee was in charge of the original editing and Hong Se-yeon was in charge of the design.
At the time of Park Taek-eun, the MD wrote the editor's words.
He was working as the first MD of Aladdin.
Now he's moving to another publisher.
He's in charge of the NPC Radio Book Club.
He joined the program earlier than I did.
He's a regular guest on the show so far.
At the time of Park Taek-eun, the Aladdin MD wrote a letter.
A total of 29 researchers have their own philosophers.
This philosopher is like this.
It's good to read this first.
Then read this.
It's a book that provides real step-by-step.
It's a book that's a great guide to move on to the next step.
For example, when I say I'm curious about a philosopher,
If you go into the philosopher here,
You can get help that you can go like this.
It's a book that becomes a real guide to each philosopher.
It helps a lot in the next step.
However, in the case of this book,
Most of the 29 philosophers are modern philosophers.
Peter Singer, Slavoj Žižek, Michael Sandel
This is the modern philosophy, today's philosophy.
This part is much longer.
I'm talking about it in the paper.
So the philosophy of the high middle class and the modern philosophy are a little short.
I think we should keep this in mind.
The philosophy of the high middle class.
There are only four people in the high middle class.
Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Augustinus.
It's a really shocking book.
But anyway, the fact that researchers in each field wrote the guide.
I think it's one of the guides that's very reliable.
This is the end of step 2.
Are you still there?
Step 3.
What did philosophers write in their books?
It's good to take a look at this little by little.
I'm going to move on to step 3.
I think it might be better to read this before step 2.
I just thought of it.
I think it would be easier to read a book like this after reading this.
It's one of the books I recommend as a regular.
The first book of step 3 is Dr. Kang Yo-han's philosophy classic lecture.
In this book, for example,
Hesiodos' Revelation of the Gods.
Then, the short story of the former philosophers of Socrates.
Then, Plato's two books.
Aristotle's book.
Then, Descartes.
Kant.
Hegel.
It's a book that reads these little by little.
If you look at the list now, you'll see.
In the case of this book, it's a bit traditional.
It's a book on the theory of the existence of parallelism.
So keep that in mind when you read it.
If there's a meaning to this book,
You can read what the actual philosopher wrote in the book.
It's too hard to read it by yourself.
But it's a book that you can read with some help.
It's a very helpful book.
This book is a total of four books.
It's a book I always recommend.
You might be tired of it.
If you've been watching for a long time,
It's a four-book lecture, a history lecture, a philosophy lecture, and a literature lecture.
Among them, I brought this philosophy lecture.
I think it's okay for you to buy them all.
And I'm dealing with classical literature.
It's a book that researchers are dealing with.
This series is also good.
It's a series of three books called Temptation of Classical Literature.
Each researcher has their own research philosopher.
It's a book that introduces or interprets philosophers.
Or it's a book that says, read it like this.
Rather than reading this book as a whole,
I think it would be better to read it one by one.
Because it's not a book for the purpose of covering the whole philosophy.
For example, if it's Heidegger,
It's a description of Hilderlin.
When I'm curious about a scholar,
For example, I was reading this philosophy book earlier.
I'm a little more curious about this philosopher.
If you read this book, you'll be able to read the book that deals with this philosopher.
It's a book that can be read with a slight increase in the ratio of brown rice.
Depending on the writing,
There are some books that contain the original, and there are some that don't.
Because each of you wrote it in a different style.
In fact, in the case of Mr. Baek Jong-hyun,
The writing on both sides is almost the same.
Depending on the researcher, the writing style and composition are a little different.
I think you should take that into account when you read it.
You can say that this book is a book that helps me a lot.
This is step 3.
Actually, the books I've introduced so far...
What should I say? Was the range very wide?
I'm a little regretting it now that I'm introducing it.
I think it's a little lacking.
Shouldn't there be a little more analysis philosophy?
I'm getting a lot of thoughts.
This is my best right now.
It's a very short list.
Please understand this part.
If I find a little more, I'll upgrade the version.
For example, 2024 version.
I'm going to upgrade it like this.
If you want to recommend a book that can be supplemented to this list,
If you write it in the comments, I think it will help each other a lot.
There are quite a few things that I couldn't cover here.
I think there will be a lot of recommendations.
Anyway, I think I can tell you this much until step 3.
If you go in a little more and say that you are a little more curious about each philosopher,
I forgot to bring it because it was on top of me.
It's a series of three holiday books.
It's a book that you can read once in a while.
This is also a book written by each researcher.
The scholar who studied the philosopher,
What to read by Foucault.
What to read by Heidegger.
There's a book that's made one by one like this.
Go series.
It's a very good start for each philosopher.
After you have a little insight into the whole philosophy,
If you go into the discussion like that,
You can read much more without distortion.
I think it would be okay to move on to that book.
There are books written by researchers against the public.
I think it would be okay to go into the discussion with those books.
It's a book by Professor Eun Sang-hwan, who dealt with Kant in the book series.
This book may be okay to read first.
This book may be a little easier than some books in 2 or 3 in terms of difficulty.
Anyway, I think it would be good to refer to these books when you want to go into the discussion.
And I'm curious about your philosophy as a scholar.
Discussions that are a little closer to life.
And the kind explanation that explains easily at that time.
And if you need a variety of data,
You can subscribe to the electric stingray.
I'm a very early supporter of the electric stingray.
It's almost the first time I started sponsoring.
In the electric stingray, for example,
It's a paper on art, a paper on medicine.
It's a paper that's poetic at the time.
It's a good topic to look into.
A lot of patients say it's a philosophy.
Through those materials,
You can find out what you're dealing with in today's reality.
And there's an online study meeting.
If you apply for a study meeting and go in on time,
It provides a study lecture on the subject.
So while listening to the lecture,
You can learn that this is what it is.
I'm dealing with a lot of topics that I couldn't cover in Step 1, 2, 3.
It's very kind and easy to deal with.
I'm really curious.
And I want to help you develop a little bit in this kind of philosophy study meeting.
And if you want to listen to the lecture yourself,
It's a very good choice for the electric stingray to sponsor us.
And besides that, there are a lot of places that provide philosophy lectures.
These days, it's a trend to do it face-to-face.
So I'm giving a philosophy lecture in a lot of places.
Philobus, the Institute of Social Studies at Seoul National University,
Philosophy library,
These days, there are a lot of philosophy lectures that deal with the public online and offline.
It's also helpful to go and listen to the lectures in those places.
There are so many kind lectures these days.
There are so many places you can enter if you make up your mind.
I'll wrap up today's video by saying that.
How many minutes of today's video did you get?
I think it's going to be a pretty long video.
I'm a little scared.
Anyway, I hope it helps those of you who have asked for this topic.
I'll wrap up today's video here.
Thank you for coming today.
Come again.
Bye.
No matter how much I think about it, I don't think the analysis philosophy and the French philosophy were enough.
