Explaining technical terms in less than 120 seconds.
Today, trauma pedagogy.
Trauma pedagogy represents a sub-discipline of pedagogy.
But let's first look at what a trauma is.
A trauma represents a mental injury, which is triggered by one or more experiences,
which have led to a strong psychological shock in humans.
The experience has a threatening, existential and catastrophic extent for humans.
As a result of the event, humans fail to handle and process the experience independently.
Traumatized people can suffer all age groups in all situations,
from childhood trauma to war trauma.
The effects of a trauma are very different in their quality, expression and consequences,
and their consequences are not uncommonly unspecific.
The most common consequences and symptoms of a trauma include depression, anxiety disorders,
addiction disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and dissociative identity disorder.
Trauma pedagogy connects therapy and pedagogy,
and wants to contribute significantly to the emotional and social stabilization of humans.
Trauma pedagogy is often, but of course not exclusively, used in child and adolescent help.
The basis for trauma pedagogy is the creation of reliable, transparent, authentic, predictable
and above all trustworthy relationships between the affected person and the pedagogical staff.
In addition, safe places, unconditional access to experience
and support in the handling and processing of trauma are of great importance.
There is training, courses and training in trauma pedagogy.
In most cases, a pedagogical or psychological basic training is required,
sometimes with several years of experience.
