And you're going to be happy because we're going to a maternity, the maternity of the hospital Lyon-Sud this morning, where six months ago, a physiological pathway was inaugurated for women who want to try 100% natural childbirth.
On site, future mothers are more and more seduced by this birth project. This is a report by Marius Doyle.
Do you have anything to tell me?
Last week, I felt the baby coming down.
Okay.
So it's different sensations.
Yes.
And it's okay.
Okay.
And I had a fall on my buttocks last week.
I was a little attracted to the desire to move during my childbirth, so that it could happen as naturally as possible.
But I still wanted to give birth in a hospital, not give birth at home, etc.
Because I wanted to be followed by a medical team and that if anything happened on day J, I could be taken care of by the team.
Can I say hello?
Yes.
Come on.
What a beautiful wonder.
This child is thin.
Impeccable.
So she has her head down.
Hello.
Yes, you said hello.
I felt it was lower.
Even my belly, when I saw it in the mirror, I said to myself, oh yes.
And then even up there, I can't reach.
You get the space.
Yes.
We're going to start by listening to his heart, if you want.
Yes, that would be good.
We have the cord and the heart.
With consultations that are longer than the average, with an average consultation on a follow-up of 40-45 minutes,
and consultations for the first time from 1h to 1h30, we adapt according to the needs, the questions, and we take the time.
This is one of our rooms.
We particularly like it because we equipped it with a dilation bathtub.
We give them the choice to be able to sit on the bed or on the floor.
We set up carpets whenever they want.
They are free from their movements during work as well as during the birth of their child.
A physiological field is a way for the hospital to accommodate all birth projects,
from a birth that wants to be more natural, less medicalized,
but with couples who still want to seek the safety that the hospital can represent for them.
This is a chair on which they can sit down to take different positions,
and above all to be able to be in extension, stretching.
It suggests a certain mobility at the time of birth,
mobility that we had forgotten a bit with under-period births.
This is the patient's project.
In fact, we have had a lot of requests in the last five years for births that are more and more natural,
to have more and more explanations about the care.
And so, between Sashfam, we started to ask ourselves the question of how to welcome these couples.
We are going to discuss together, to talk about maternity leave.
We are going to start with a little bit of everything that is going to be done during the stay.
From birth, we are also going to observe it from a medical point of view, but very quickly.
The first thing is that we are going to set it up face-to-face with you.
Here, on the other hand, we have built something very precise,
where we really want to have small groups to be able to welcome parents, co-parents,
including the co-parent, so that they can find their place.
I had a question. If there is an attachment in a crouching position, how does it happen?
We spontaneously re-sit in a semi-sitting position.
We don't hold a child in our arms in a crouching position for a very long time.
We let you free to change positions as long as we have a certain visibility.
Sometimes we have positions, we too, that are far-fetched.
You have forgotten us well, but we do our squats next to you.
It's perfect for the genitals.
What I like first is that it is quite convivial at the moment.
We are not many, we are between one and three couples.
To have the interrogations of each couple too, it's quite enriching.
It allows you to say, well, what's going to happen?
It's less abstract.
I'll let you take the position that is most comfortable for you.
Sit down.
And above all, perceive in yourself all the power that is in you.
This strength that you don't even imagine.
This strength that every woman has,
since women have been giving birth since the night of time.
