Hello everyone and welcome to the unusual world of occult sciences.
Today we are going to talk about a talisman to which we lend the power of stupefaction.
This is the hand of glory, also called the witch's hand or the thief's candle.
But before we start, I would like to thank CyberGhost VPN which sponsors this show.
Personally, if I use CyberGhost, it is to have access to streaming platforms without any geographical limitation.
So first of all, a VPN is a virtual private network
that allows you to encrypt your internet connection in order to protect your private data.
This allows you to connect to the internet via servers located abroad in order to use a third party IP address.
The operation is very simple, it is done in a few seconds.
First, I open CyberGhost VPN, I choose a server in the list, I connect,
I change my IP address, which makes it more difficult for me to trace on the internet.
It is simple, efficient, without particular technical knowledge to have and compatible with all interfaces
Mac, Android, Linux, Windows, Smart TV, etc.
In addition, the subscription is available on this device at the same time,
so the PC, the tablet, the console, the smartphone, etc.
and it can be used for the whole family.
CyberGhost VPN is the world leader in the field, with more than 15 years of experience,
38 million users, more than 9700 servers located in more than 90 different countries,
which allows you to access 35 streaming platforms wherever you are and without any geographical limitation.
Personally, I used it to watch Into the Wild movies or The 8 Bitches, available only abroad.
Note again that it is the most recommended VPN on Thrustpilot.
With the link in description, you can benefit from 83% discount,
that is 2.03 euros per month and 4 free months.
And you even have a 45-day guarantee, satisfied or refunded, so without any risk.
In addition, you have a technical service available 24 hours a day and 7 days out of 7, all in French.
So to take advantage of it, I invite you to go through the link in the description,
so you can access the Internet safely by encrypting your data.
In any case, a big thank you to CyberGhost VPN for sponsoring this video,
and I'll see you for the rest of this show.
If the hand of glory is in the right place in most of the grimoires of black magic,
this talisman still retains a part of mystery.
If it is commonly a magic hand or bewitched, having powers of stupefaction,
its origins remain difficult to define.
The use of bewitched hands is already attested during the period of Antiquity.
It is not excluded that the hand paintings found in the caves of Arparietal,
as Chauvet, Lascaux and many others, are actually their oldest ancestors.
It remains to be seen what their functions were in a religious and potentially magical context.
So as for the hand of glory, the latter seems to have very specific functions,
and moreover, a manufacturing process that leaves no doubt about the evil nature of the object.
In most of the grimoires, the talisman of the hand of glory is composed with the left hand of a hanged man,
or possibly the hand that was used to commit a crime.
So here is the creation process as it is described in the infernal dictionary of Collines de Plancy.
What the wizards call the hand of glory is the hand of a hanged man that is prepared in this way.
It is wrapped in a piece of deadly cloth by pressing it well,
to make it lose the little blood that could have remained.
Then it is put in a vase of earth with salt, saltpeter, zima and long pepper, all well pulverized.
It is left in this pot for fifteen days,
after which it is exposed to the great sun of the heatwave until it is perfectly dried.
If the sun is not enough, it is put in a oven heated with ferns and vermouth.
Then a kind of candle is composed with the fat of the hanged man,
the virgin wax and the sesame of the pony.
And we use the hand of glory as a chandelier to keep this wonderful candle lit.
Even if this is a little disgusting, the recipe is not so complex compared to other magic talismans.
Still, it was necessary to have one hanging under the hand without a bad name.
Note that there are several variables for its composition.
Although the basic ingredient is usually the hand of a dead corpse by hanging,
it was sometimes necessary to make the wick of the candle with the hair of the same corpse.
In a variable, there was no need for candles,
it was the fingers of the hand that could catch fire.
To do this, it was necessary to dip them in wax or in human fat.
There were then five flames for this version of the hand of glory.
But if all this seems disgusting to you, there is actually much more terrifying.
Much more horrible, another German version of the hand of glory
takes the name of the light of thieves and is composed differently.
Here, the basic ingredient is no longer the hand of a hanged man,
but that of a fetus from a pregnant woman who was hanged or who committed suicide or who was beheaded.
The German grimoires tell us that the operation had to be done at midnight,
far from the eyes, on the road of the devil.
An evocative name that illustrates the darkness of the activity.
Note that this version of the hand of glory is more powerful than the other because it can be reused.
The flames can be lit by simple thought and according to the will of the wizard who owns it.
But the question that interests us, why did individuals seek to get this magic hand?
To understand it, we need to know what the hand of glory was used for.
So at the level of its powers,
the hand of glory had a function of stupefaction or petrification
for the inhabitants of a house or any person to whom it was presented.
The goal is to allow the thieves to carry out their misdeeds discreetly
or more simply to enter the houses at night without hindrance
as described in the grimoire of the little Albert.
To sum up, we could say that it is a talisman of a practical type
and this is how hypothetically the powers of the hand of glory are supposed to act
as reported by Stanislas de Goethe.
When the thieves want to plunder a few houses,
they light their candles and use the hand of the hanged as a chandelier.
They enter ardently where they have to go,
convinced that there were 20 people armed to the teeth.
All will be struck on the field of stupefaction and stupefaction.
So that they can get rid of the loot without fear
because none of the witnesses of their crime will blink
as long as the magic candle will not be extinguished.
The hand of glory would be a bit like the ultimate technique of the thieves
allowing them to commit misdeeds in absolute discrepancy
without even waiting for the occupants of a house to leave the scene.
It can be compared in a way to a charm of invisibility
to a certain extent if it is not that it is not the bearer of the hand of glory
who becomes invisible but the victims who no longer have the ability to see it and act
hence the stupefaction.
Note that the hand of glory is more discreet than it seems
because its light is actually only visible to the wizard who uses it.
Thus it could be hidden and activated only in the place of action.
Note again that due to its mischievous nature
the hand of glory is only used at night
and allows the thief to light up by its light and see it as in broad daylight.
Another power that is usually attributed to the hand of glory
is that of creaking when approaching a treasure
which would make it a kind of detector.
Even more, the hand of glory would have the ability to unlock the locks
and to pick up the chests, which is very practical.
However, this stealing talisman was not absolute.
There are counter-charms or ways to protect yourself against the magic of this talisman.
Unless the preparation of the remedy is not really more rewarding
than that of the hand of glory.
Here are the counter-charms presented in the grimoire of little Albert.
I admit that I have never experienced the secret of the hand of glory
but I have witnessed three times the definitive judgment of some selleras
who confessed to the torture to have used the hand of glory in the thefts they had done.
And how in the interrogation they were asked what it was
and how they had had it and what was the use of it.
Answer and on what they were asked if there was no remedy to guarantee this prestige.
They say that the hand of glory became ineffective
and that the thieves could not use it if they rubbed the threshold of the door of the house
or the other places through which they could enter.
With a nonguant composed of black cat leather, white hen fat and owl blood
and that this making had to be done in the heat of the heat.
Thus, it was necessary to take care of greasing the door, windows
and any other potential place in the house in order to be sure to avoid intrusions.
Several people got caught trying to commit a larceny
were sent to the stake for having confessed under torture
to have used the hand of glory but without success.
In the version where it is the fingers of the hand that act as candles
if during the ignition one or more fingers do not want to ignite
it suggests that some of the occupants of the house were immune to the charm of the hand of glory.
So the thieves can turn around and escape the capture.
Here is one of these stories reported in the Infernal Dictionary of Collines-de-Plancy.
Two magicians had come to live in a cabaret to steal.
They asked to spend the night near the fire which obtained them.
When everyone went to bed, the servant who defied the mime of the two travelers
looked at her through a hole in the door to see what he was doing.
She saw that he was pulling out of a bag the hand of a dead body,
that he was zonking the fingers and I don't know what kind of zonking he was lighting.
Except for one that he could not light.
Some efforts that he made, and this because, as she understood it,
she was the only one who had the precaution to rub the threshold of the door
with a zonking made of black cat leather, white chicken fat and horse blood.
So, in any case, single candle or zonking for each finger,
the power of the hand of glory ends when the flame goes out
and all the victims then come out of amazement.
It is therefore important for the wizard to have left the place before this happens.
However, the flame that burns in the hand of glory is not a simple flame,
it is of a magical nature.
Note that in the German version, the flame only goes out at the will of the wizard,
which considerably increases its potential, you will understand.
Thus, in the case where protections turn out to be ineffective,
the hand of glory could nevertheless be extinguished,
but only with milk, not with water.
Of course, a person had to be spared by the spell of stupefaction
so that it could work.
So, in any case, you easily understand that the magic spell of the hand of glory
has seduced many burglars who wanted to avoid the dangers of their activity.
But now we have to study another version of the hand of glory
which is radically different in its conception but also in its powers.
In the arcanes of witchcraft, there are several grimoires
which mention a ritual of the name of the hand of glory
unless there is no corpse hand in its composition
and its powers are not of the order of stupefaction.
However, this magical work is no less unsolid than the other.
Here is a ritual of this hand of glory from the grimoire of Pope Honorius.
Surtout, n'oubliez aucune circonstance,
