For one Uber Eats driver, it started with a pickup in Lindenwold, New Jersey on Friday night.
"She was in the middle of an Uber Eats delivery with what she believed was a burrito meal," said Washington Township Police Chief Patrick Gurcsik.
The package appeared to contain a foil-wrapped burrito, a box of soup mix, and a bottle of water.

begin with a delivery mixup a delivery
person in South Jersey was in a for a
smelly surprise that launched a police
investigation yeah because inside of a
bogus burrito was quite a bit of
marijuana New Jersey correspondent Trish
Hartman live in Washington Township now
with more on this most unusual delivery
Trish yeah Brian Christie so many of us
can get food delivered at the click of a
button right well on Friday police were
called by a delivery driver who thought
she was delivering a meal it turned out
to be a completely different kind of
delivery altogether for one Uber Eats
driver it started with a pickup here in
lindenwald on Friday night she uh was in
the middle of the Uber Eats delivery um
with what she believed to be a burrito
meal her mission was to deliver this to
Glassboro the package appeared to
contain a foil wrapped burrito a box of
soup mix and a bottle of water but
police say as she was driving she
started to suspect this was no ordinary
burrito an unmistakable odor was coming
from the bag she believed something
didn't smell right with with her
delivery package she believed it smelled
like marijuana and she pulled over
called the police department she pulled
over in Washington Township along Fries
Mill Road and called police he inspected
the package curbside and determined that
it was not a burrito uh meal that there
was no meat or lettuce or beans or rice
um that that was actually an ounce of
marijuana the non burrito was taken into
evidence and now police are
investigating where the drugs came from
because police say the food didn't come
from a restaurant there's a good chance
the suspects were using the the option
to deliver a package from point A to
point B according to Uber's website
things like medication alcohol and
illegal substances are not allowed the
chief said the driver did exactly the
right thing by calling police and it
serves as a good reminder when using
services like this to anybody that uh
delivers Uber Eats or or utilizes Uber
um as as a way of transportation just
you always have to be cautious and
always have to be safe and keep that in
the back of your
mind now no charges have been filed in
this case but it is under investigation
we reached out to Uber and a
spokesperson called this quote deeply
disturbing and they encourage any
drivers to reach out to local
authorities if they think anything
suspicious is going on anyone with any
information is asked to contact
Washington Township Police we're live in
