20 Minute Guided Meditation | Grow in Your Understanding of Christ and His Holy Spirit

The following session is from The Sevenfold Spirit of God, seven biblically based meditations inspired by Isaiah and Revelations. May the Lord bless you as you engage with this session. Enjoy. 2. The Spirit of Understanding How wonderful it is to be of understanding and not of ignorance. We move on to the second flame if you will, the spirit of understanding. As you begin to find a comfortable position, allow me to pray for us. Father, I thank you who holds all understanding, all knowledge and wisdom and might and strength. We honor you today and we ask for your spirit of understanding to fill us with your might, with your wisdom, with your knowledge. Enlighten us, Holy Father, with your Holy Spirit, so we may serve you more rightly. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. Let's begin with a scripture from Luke 24 verse 45. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. Now this is Jesus to his disciples. As we begin to do deep breathing, meditate on that simple scripture. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Now continue to breathe as you see fit, as you feel comfortable in doing. And I'm going to read this scripture again over you. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. Let's begin right there. I want you to see Jesus. Visualize Jesus the man, the God-man, walking up to you and placing his hands, both hands, on top of your head. And as he's doing so, by faith, imagine him opening your understanding. Go ahead. What feelings are you experiencing? What are you seeing as his hands are upon you, as understanding is being opened? I want you to see your mind as a book being opened, and him flipping through the pages, him touching different passages, different sentences, highlighting areas that we may have missed. Just see the Lord doing that for us, just flipping through the book of our mind, and organizing, touching, enlightening, shining light on areas that are dusty and dark. I want you now, by faith, to see the Lord stopping at different areas, the areas that are the most dusty, dark, that even have cobwebs on them. Areas that have felt impossible in your mind. Areas that you thought you would never have understanding in. I want us to stop right now, and just look at Jesus as he looks at those areas of our mind. Areas that are dusty and dark, dry places of the mind. Just take a second and visualize Jesus looking at those areas of your mind, and take notice of his face, and what he may be feeling as he looks at those places in our mind. What do you believe the Lord feels in his heart when he sees those areas of our mind that are void of understanding, that lack the light of his word? What do you feel the Lord feels concerning those areas of your mind? Now, I want you to look at Jesus, Jesus Christ, and ask him to place his fingers on those areas of your mind that are void of understanding. Those dark cobwebs and dusty pages, and ask him to enlighten those areas by his grace and power. Go ahead, ask him, more Lord. Ask him for more, more of his light, more of his touch. Ask him to do what he did for his disciples. That verse we read in the beginning, then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures. Specifically, that first part, then opened he their understanding. Visualize the Lord opening your mind to his understanding, just like opening a book by faith. Visualize him opening your mind as one would open a book. Go ahead. Now, maintaining that image of the Lord opening your mind as a book, as a book wide open, I would like you to ask him to now send forth the spirit of understanding into your mind. As you do so, visualize the spirit of understanding coming into that book, your mind, coming and filling you with his understanding. Allow all that has happened to sink deep into you. As we return to deep breathing, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale. He loves you so much. I want you to have some time and simply talk to the Lord about your experience. Simply speak anything you want to speak to him. I would encourage you to keep that visualization before you. The Lord's face, his hand, his heart, his emotions. Go ahead and speak to Jesus by faith. As we close, I speak the blessing of God upon your understanding, upon your minds, that you would be a man or woman of understanding, that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened by his light, and that the spirit of understanding would always rest and be upon you and inside of you.
