Be exposed to it again, right?
More repetition, right?
No matter where they go.
That guy was so off base by what he was telling.
Back in the day when I started,
so many of the training programs were just rah, rah, rah.
Really, dude, what are you giving me?
If you choose to argue and lose, you lose.
If you win, you still lose.
Do you want to know the single best thing
that you can do for your career as an adjuster,
whether you've been in the IA for years
or you just learned about it from this video?
The signature networking event of the year
is the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters
Convention held at the first of the year every year for decades.
Go to nacaadjuster.org right
now and get registered for this can't-miss annual event.
There's training, continuing ed for your
licensing, and the most important thing,
dozens of recruiters, team managers, VPs of HR, all the
people who will be hiring you,
and you get to sit down in front of them in person and interview.
this is a big deal people leave this conference
with claims in their hands if you only do one
thing for your career this has to be it go to nacaadjuster.org
and let them know adjuster tv
sent you the other thing that sheryl's really good
with the computer is when you misspell a
word and you know you misspell it
because you're looking at the screen you and you go back and
then i'm like nah just keep
on going let it go red squiggly yeah yeah well for me but you know
When I was in the music business,
I was using the computer a lot, too, but I've adapted
to that.
But the cool thing about the computers is that they're,
especially with Xactimate, I'm
sure Symbility is the same way, but you can,
the macros, and you can create templates for
your diaries, you can do GLR templates
and all that kind of stuff, so you don't have
to do a whole lot of typing, you just may have
to go in and change a couple of things
to make it fit the estimate.
itself well one of the things that that we always taught
was we would take um a GLR, a gross loss
report or a narrative report whatever you want to call it right
and we take a standard one and then
we would come up with cool sentences. Subrogation, there's
no known subrogation on this claim. All
things are whether we all damages
were weather related, right? Yeah, that's a good sentence that
never has to change exactly unless there is subrogation
then you just delete that paragraph
ever write one, but like inspected with, right
and we'd write insured name and the type of
materials on the roof, we turned all of those red, yeah
that's that's smart, right? And so in a in a
GLR I might only have 50, you're gonna change, you're gonna start doing
that I know you are
I only because I closed the school, you can't, I only had 50 things
or 40 things that I had to
look at to actually make sure
and verify that I changed. Here's the other cool thing about
Xactimate. You don't have to change those to black
Right, right. Xactimate only acknowledges
black. So you copy and paste that in
All of those little red things that you changed are
going to come in there Xactimate correctly
Yeah, we have templates. The number one resource for
damage identification books,
trainings and certifications is Hague Education. Not only
that, but they provide building inspection
and desk adjuster trainings and certifications for
those as well get a discount on all books tool certifications
and other trainings with code
Adjuster TV at checkout at HagueEducation.com we have templates
in our companion guide for
diaries and all that stuff uh-huh um that have
I'm very very serious about this they got to have
the first and last name of whoever they talk
too absolutely well you can't every time you can't
say named insured or talk to insured yeah ph you have to say
because the the grandpa may live
in the house he's not the named insured
but he's got the same name as his son who owns the house
right right um so anyway
so in our in our templates um we have that stuff like bold like
all caps so they can you know if they if they
if they do a self file review and they look at the
pdf it's going to be like first
and last name of insured all caps right and in brackets and if they
see that on there obviously they forgot to put
the insured's name in or the contractor's name or put
their phone number or the time you know all that stuff
because there's the time stamps in the diary
and exact meter i mean right they're kind of
pointless anyway so well mr allen now that we're
not around you're it in my book okay well
no seriously you know and and and you know people
always ask is it bittersweet to close down the school
because we were so successful it was such
an honor um it's more sweet than bitter for me sure
and it's certainly all sweet for my wife
yeah right because she was the one on the back end
that actually made that school happen
yeah but you know there comes a time you
and i talked about this i don't know exactly where
we're going but i do know that i still want to kind of stay in the game
and of everybody else
that is out there all of those other training facilities
of which i will not name any other
people who do um you you have put together
in my estimation the best program that's out there
right now awesome well thanks you know it's quick it's simple
but what the value of what you do is
adjust your TV long before you ever did Fast Track, right, coming down
to Sedona and all those videos
that we did down in Sedona back in 2019, right
to really show people how to climb a roof or show
people how to do an interior or just seeing you
and I or you and others that you've done this with
right, but just actually seeing that process is such
a huge education, much more than taking your
modules and doing your modules
and passing the test, that's all certification stuff that they can
say to the IA firms, I at least did something, yeah
right, um so yeah you're it dude, just so you know
That's high praise.
I mean, you guys were the Harvard of justice schools.
Yeah.
Well, you know, I've talked about this a lot.
The reason we were what we were is, and the reason we charged so much,
is I had your, you were sitting across
from me just like this for six weeks.
Yeah.
So if you were fidgeting or you weren't paying attention, right,
I was calling you to attention, even if I was screaming at you.
but I was calling you to attention
and getting your attention to get back on track.
We never left anybody, never left anybody behind,
but we never let anybody skip a step, right?
If we caught you going from three to seven,
you went back to three and started over again.
And we had a, when I was in Bozeman
talking to one of our graduates, he said,
you know, the thing I even teach my kids now
when they're working with Legos is lasso
and delete because if you're working on a sketch
and you try to pull out that extension
and it doesn't do what you want it to and and you just
click delete on it there's something in the back
of Xactimate that's hanging on to that yeah and
then you try to pull it out again and it doesn't work
and then you try to pull it out again it
doesn't work and try to pull it out again lasso
and delete it the second time and start all over
it will be quicker to redo it than it will
to try to fix that one thing yes because there's
something in that program that's in the background
and once it glitches it's done yeah yeah right and
so if you're not doing step by step by step
and and that's why we could do it because i could sit
there 40 hours a week and drill it into your head yeah
and nobody else has ever done that that's why
we never had any competition yeah exactly right
that's why we're the only one that the VA approved
and i think that the saddest part for me
um is that i'm not able to help vets like i was
sure you know yeah working for the federal government
is a pain in the i imagine to us too
yeah um well i appreciate that for sure i mean
that's yeah that's high praise um that means a
lot because you know you're kind of like you're truly
the gold standard with this and you guys
have run a lot of students through your program
and you have a lot of heavy duty relationships
with with 50 plus IA firms right and carriers too right
so you know i'm excited you know now
that you're kind of like not nailed down
to that anymore i'm trying to think of all the ways i can
like hook up with Guy Grand yeah get some more
because i've had such a good time um with we had
max down there yeah shooting all those videos
and those are some of still but today some of the most
popular videos that we do because there's it's you know especially like
that that big one when
we did the hail claim on the house we were staying
at um because you know it's we talked about
ride-alongs a little bit a little bit ago right
where you're basically i tell people you're just
sitting there mute you write down your questions as they come to you
and then over lunch or dinner
after you bought this person a steak
or you know a giant caesar salad or whatever right you're
asking questions and you're you know you're trying
to figure out like do i want to do this and what
were you doing in these certain these certain places you're
not the second you start asking
questions to somebody you're doing a ride-along
with then you're they're having to answer your
questions and they're not doing their work that
they're supposed to do because you're only that
i'm it's a i call it a job shadow right
but what we did was it was like having two guys
with a cumulative like 40 years
of experience walking you around the house like we're staying
there 15 minutes at the garage door talking about
the garage door staying at the front door
talking you know this is how we would talk
to the insured right how we introduce ourselves
you know they're going to have these common
questions whatever up on the roof how you do
a test square ladder safety you know i mean
that's that's like a 16 video series it's
I don't even know how long it is,
all those videos put together, but it's long.
And it covers the whole, I mean,
we do deck hand rail, you know, grill cover.
I mean, every possible thing.
That was fun.
That was a lot of fun.
And I'd love to do some more of that stuff for sure.
You have to come to Savannah.
I'm happy to.
Because there's a chance of me driving 1,200 freaking miles just
to sit in this room with you again.
Right.
Plus.
No, I love Montana.
I can do it over the winter.
Right.
Down there.
Now I can't do it over here.
exactly exactly but we could
be your your what they call them snowbird destination yeah exactly
yeah we'll bring dean murray down yeah you know it's
a just a side little joke because when you
first came down there right my partners were worried
that you were going to become competition
right right and i kept saying that's not going
to happen no so if you come down again i can
actually give you some of the Voss secrets that i didn't
while we were talking yeah yeah right
because a lot of times you and and you would talk right
and because you were talking to the camera
and i would agree with you because what you're saying was right
but it wasn't the way i would
do it or it wasn't necessarily the way that i was teaching it
or the checklist that i had
for my stuff and so because it was yours i was like okay
but now next time we come down we can
have better debates and conversations oh
for sure well listen i think uh this this is something that
kind of popped into my head a little bit
um what i think would be cool would be to add to fast
track um like a guide and a module right
and so select parts that kind of like dovetail with what
we're teaching you know maybe you know we could sit down
and go through my program and like say
well you know you're not talking about this a whole lot
or you know or something that i've
struggled to kind of like get across to them
that you've got a checklist and a process for
and you can backfill a little bit there over there
with that and then you know this is inside
baseball stuff but you know once you figure out what you're going
to do you know if you're going
to if you are going to start training adjusters again
which i think would be awesome then that's
cross promotion right right because
then we can say well you know you could still go get guy
trained by guy grand here's his info so on and so forth
which i always tell people i say listen
get training from me if you have if you have
the means go to MoCat go to go to go to Voss like
because i had students that went to Voss after me many yeah not many
but at least i have a dozen
several yeah yeah so and the benefit of that is there's
a lot of benefits but i think the prime
benefit is is that they're going to be exposed
to it again right more repetition right no matter
where they go and they're going to see
the space same basic information taught from a different
angle from a different perspective right
so you you did claims for a long time i did claims for
a long time but we didn't do the exact same claim
to have the exact same experiences right so they
go to guy grand and or they go to you first
and they come to me or vice versa whatever it is
my people never came i don't know i had i had you did
a video one of my people but he came to you
first yeah but you know what i would i will
honestly they don't really need to come to me
after they go to you because you're six weeks in the well
and they're working i mean they were
they were 20 days from graduation to first claim close
so that was my average over the 12 years
yeah so they never came back
but i will tell you this because i had i had people that came from
every one of those other training programs okay
and honestly nobody ever had anything
bad to say about you oh matt does that differently
but not oh that guy was so off base by what he was
telling me and you know back in the day
when i started so many of the training programs were
just rah rah rah really dude what are you giving me right
and you've always given value whether it
as just for TV Plus right because i think you know
this but that very first conversation we had with
everybody they we made them go to Juster TV Plus
and sign up for the month or two months before
they came to the school oh really absolutely absolutely they might
not have after this school
but we made everybody sign up for your school it's kind
of like a prerequisite so they could
get an idea of what was going
on right before it started it was like that during the ILX
construction training that way we knew
when people showed up that there was some sort of basis
whether they were a contractor
or an accountant i had something that i could work with because
we were so condensed hardcore to what we did
but yeah now i'm semi-retired hanging out in the red
rocks and uh life is good life is just trying to wonder what i'm doing
so i thought i'd take
a trip to montana hey come
and dental floss tycoon whatever you we'll see who knows that one
whatever you want to do man you know i'm here to support you
and and uh yeah you know
i mean and as far as your idea of having a component with fast track
or having me
video with you or that kind of stuff that's all easy
as far as where i go and what i actually
do in the future because again i'm 68 i got
a really good life i live in a one of the most
awesome places in the world as is this place
but it's beautiful down there yeah national forest
100 feet from my house
so um how much i really want to get into doing this kind of stuff with
you is easy yeah right it's like i think i
was telling you that they okay i can put that on my
schedule for the second tuesday of next month
and so yeah very very much enjoying it and have
enjoyed working with you and looking forward to it
in the future oh yeah yeah it's been a pleasure
i mean we i think we've grown to be friends you know very much
so for sure thank you brother yeah
man thank you for everything learn how to stay cool
in contractor negotiations and skyrocket
at your earnings in this next video.
