This Still Exists in MANILA?! We Have Never Been Somewhere Like This!

The first hotel in Ortega. Wow, it feels like the Titanic. You even got a little welcome picture on the TV. Good morning guys from Manila, from the Philippines. You don't know how good it is to say that. When we're not here we miss it so much. But anyway good morning, welcome back to a brand new vlog. As you can see we are already out on the road today. We've had an amazing breakfast, we've freshened up, we've had a good sleep all round, even Remy slept well last night. We feel rested, we feel good. We're off to a slightly different area of Manila today. We're checking out a place that we've actually never really explored. A place called Ortegas and I think it's like the Ortegas Center they call it. We're going to see what's going on. We're checking into the Richmond Hotel. They're on our way there now, all our luggage is in the back. And yeah we've got a couple of days exploring this area. So great to be checking out another area in Manila. So so good to still have places to explore. That's a good question actually. If you're watching these vlogs and you've maybe watched our Philippines vlogs before and you're from the Philippines maybe or you've traveled here and you've been somewhere that you haven't seen us go to. We've been to many many places but of course this is a country of many many places. All we always say like it's got everything, the beaches, the islands, the city, the mountains, so so much variation in the Philippines. But if there's somewhere you haven't seen us go and you've always wanted to say go there guys you would love it. You kind of know the kind of things we like by now if you watch the channel. Comment below, we'll look through the comments for future trips. This is so like grand in here. Everything's like wooden. We just met the manager he was telling us this is the oldest hotel that they've got in the group. 27 years. It's the first hotel here in Ortegas. The first hotel in Ortegas, wow. It feels like the Titanic. Yeah yeah yeah, it's like a ship. Like all the gold and the marbled floor. Like the wood on the walls. Look at the marble on these lifts, it's amazing. It's really cool. You don't get wood panelling like this. No. And I can guarantee you, I can guarantee you this is like quality mahogany. Yeah yeah yeah. It's not like fake wood panelling. Even like the shapes here. It is Titanic-y, I don't know what you mean. That is a compliment. This is one that can't sink, so that's good. Yeah, we're good. We're good. No icebergs in the Philippines, it's way too hot. The key card, sorry. The key card is you have to insert it so you can press the floor. Nice. You did that on the Titanic as well. Yeah, exactly the same. I hope still in a good way. And even like the room has got like these little, I can't think what you call that, like someone has his room, I don't know what I'm doing. Amazing, I love it. Cat muscle. Whoa, it's massive. Look at this. This is cool, isn't it? It's like a little apartment, I don't think it's hot dining, it's like a nice smelling one. Amazing, there's like two bedrooms, that's so cool. So Codes can be in here, you've got a bathroom here with- Even look here, like there's a window into the bath, but the shaping and stuff. There's a certain decor this reminds me of and I just can't think what it is. Look at the bath toys, that's so cute. Oh, you want me to have a bath here? Let's do that later, that's so cute. Double sink, oh, Codes, bath bomb. Bath bomb. Yeah, so nice. I thought you were about to put it in the toilet then, that's okay. Oh, you even got a little welcome picture on the TV. Should have asked that before I closed the door, but anyway. Yummy, look at these lamps. Anyway, really nice, nice to be here. Very, very warm welcome from the team at this hotel. A huge thank you to all of them for inviting us here and hosting us for a few nights. Here we go, what's it going to be? This one. So the plan now is because we're very, very close to our beloved BGC, we are jumping in the car and heading over there where we want to try something we've never ever done in BGC before. Something we've seen, I spotted. Out walking in the evening, dropping my dirty laundry, strolling along. There were many, many people around eating something and eating something that we love. So we're going to go and check that out right now. Okay, we made it to BGC. Quick coffee. Oh, look at the reflection, looks so cool. Quick coffee at Ancan. It's been a while since I've had one of these. When we first got here, this was our daily. We were staying in an Airbnb just up the road. This was our little daily walk, wasn't it? To get a morning coffee. No, actually you never did it. I used to go and get the coffees. You may have seen the vlogs when we first got back. And Koda will be happy because it was really busy last time we came in and he couldn't climb up to the top. There were people sat there. And now it's free reign. And now he's already right up there. With his ribbon. Thank you, thank you. Now the next section of this video is not going to surprise many of you. If you've been watching these vlogs for even just a day, you'll know that I'm obsessed with only a couple of things in life. Lucy, yes, of course. But secondly, coffee. Now I'm out here right now outdoors and I've got this in my hand. This is the Altyn Mino. It's a portable espresso maker. I have our car parked up here right now. And I'm going to make a proper espresso. Now before you would have to go to a coffee shop. I've got the good setup at home, yes. But you'd have to go into a city or a town. But I'm out here in the countryside and I can make myself a proper cafe quality espresso. Let's do it. So I'm going to go for 10 grams of beans. The beans go in. You give it a double press. The beans start grinding. So our beans have been ground. Fluffy. Look at these grounds. Fluffy, fine espresso grounds. Then all you do is get your dosing funnel. Secure it on top of the basket like that. Flip your coffee grounds over. We then have our coffee grounds in our basket. So I'm going to go up to just 55. We're going to put our cup under. So I don't know how but the whole time we were in BGC last time we didn't quite clock that the whole of the fort has gone. Like the fort strip area is no longer. I don't know how we didn't realize. Like it's quite a big part of BGC. We must have just not gone past it. Did you not see it on your Ankan coffee ride? I'm so surprised you didn't notice that on your morning coffee trips to Ankan when we spent like a week in BGC. Yeah, it's gone. So if anyone knows, let me know in the comments what's going there. Yeah, I'd love to know in the comments. So drop a comment below if you know. I cannot believe how warm it is. It feels like the usual parts of BGC that are quite breezy. The wind is hot and I'm like I'm struggling for breath slightly. Not as dramatic as that. But it feels like I'm breathing in like thick hot air. But we are heading to somewhere that kind of went viral. It's a burger place that George spotted. And I actually DMed the owner, the guy who created the whole thing. And I was like, we're thinking of coming. Do you think we need to book a table? Because it's quite hard to get a table, I think. They seem to sell out really quickly. He was like, I'll hook you up. I'll sort you out a table. So luckily, yeah, we've got a table. He said the only two stops available were 2.50 or 6pm today. So we went for the 2.50 option because 6 o'clock's a bit late. And that'll be like the boys' dinner time and stuff and bedtime. So yeah, feeling very lucky we managed to get a space. And I can't wait to try these burgers because people are going crazy for them. And we're huge burger people. So I'm very excited to try it out and see what we think. So yeah, Greenlight Burgers in BGC. It's at West Gallery Place, I think it's called. So it's super like inconspicuous. It's literally just like the green light on the side there, which I guess means they're open. And then there's just these like seating area outside. So this is the place I saw. It's got such minimal branding. I had to actually ask someone what the name of the place was. Okay, we've secured a menu. I saw the word double on there, which is always a good sign. How cool is this? This is amazing. They just moved us inside and we're getting a little glimpse. Like the kitchen's right here. Very unique little spot. As I said, when I was walking past the other night, it was packed here. It was so, so busy and it's kind of like a little secret spot. But obviously it's not a secret because clearly a lot of people know about it. But like no branding out the front, no signs. You have to like go in, like ask for a menu through the little hole. And yeah, you can sit up at the bar here and grab a burger. Let's try it. We're here to try the food. That's what's important. So let's give us a go. Look at this. So we've got, what's it called? The double lacey. It's the one with onions two ways, thin and crispy. Yeah, it smells really good. Here we go. It's so good. There's so much flavour. The crispiness of the burger. The onions are amazing. The bun is so nice and soft. Wow. I feel like that doesn't even need sauce. It's got three different sauces as well. But I just squirted that one to the tray because I want to try all of them, see what we think. The burger sauce one's good. The green one. That's like the herby one. And then the yellow one. I think that's my favourite, the yellow. It's like mustardy. So it's got a hot sauce here that's fermented for two weeks. If you know me, you know I love hot spicy things. So let's give that a go with one of the fries. It's a good hot sauce. Are you hungry? You're meant to be asleep, mate. What are you doing? You're meant to be asleep. What are you doing? No. That is so good. Isn't it? That is amazing. Unreal. Thank you so much, Coda. This is yours. Oh, Remy. Remy nearly grabbed it. Look, you've got a cone and you hold it with that thing. You can keep it in there so it doesn't drip. That's the idea. So we have come, I don't know if Lucy said, we've come into Oro now, which is one of our favourite places in BGC. Basically, they do everything with chocolate and it is just delicious. So Coda has his chocolate. All of mine. Oh, that looks so good, man. Chocolate chip ice cream. Lucy ordered me my usual, even though we haven't been here for two years. Even though we haven't been here for two years, I still call this my usual order. It's a dark chocolate iced drink. So good. There's a place that we've got at home in the UK called Knoops. K-N-O-O-P-S. It's great. It's lovely but it always reminds me of this place and this place just slightly takes it. I don't know what it is. It's just so, so good. How's the ice cream? The biggest cone. I think that is the biggest cone. I think Remy wants in on some of this stuff. We're not really giving Remy sugary stuff yet. I think we held off with Coda until he was way past one, maybe even two. I just think when they're so young, they don't need it. I don't think at any age you don't need it, but eventually it's kind of inevitable if we're having it because we occasionally enjoy it. It may look like all the time on the vlog, but in our normal lives, we don't have sugary stuff all the time. Yeah, I think it's fun. Like the memories going out for ice cream as a kid is just so nice. But sorry, Remy, you have to wait a little bit longer, mate. I know, I know. Just a little bit longer. So the guy here just came up to us and said the operations manager is a huge fan of the vlogs and they wanted to give us seven bars of chocolate. I've always wanted to try all the flavours they have, so now we can. That is so nice. I'm particularly interested in cashew dolce. So I was going to go to the gym this evening. No, have a bar of chocolate instead. We have other plans now. Amazing, that looks so good. It's a nice packaging as well. It's kind of golden rattan. I can't think of the word. There's a word. What's the name? Let me Google it. It says it's like a Philippines... My phone has decided not to load anything, so I cannot tell you that. Maybe you can comment below the name of rattan sort of texture in the Philippines. Oh, that made him jump. It's a bit too much. He was loving it a second ago. He's loving it. So this boy is deciding not to nap today. Yeah, he's just skipped a nap. He's been waiting for five hours. He's meant to wait for three hours. Do you think he's getting to the stage where he drops a nap? No, that's when they're like a year and a half old. Surely not yet. Although Remi drops... Koda drops very early. Yeah. What a lovely time of day here. Sun nearly setting, getting into that golden hour, which is just beautiful here. I was just walking along getting Remi to sleep. He's just fallen asleep. Lucy and Koda have gone into some shops to have a look around and I had the job of walking Remi around and around in circles to get him to sleep for his final nap of the day, which is way too late, 5pm. But never mind, he's asleep now. So hopefully in a little while we can have dinner at the hotel and he will be either still asleep or back on good form and not somewhere in the middle where he hasn't slept and he's a little bit annoyed. I just wanted to bring the camera out once more, not once more, just again for the day, just to say how nice. I was just walking around with a smile on my face and I was like, I wish I could capture this somehow. I was like, oh yeah, I'm a vlogger. I'll just get my camera out and talk about it. But just the lighting, the feeling here, that like 5pm, it's all about the sun, the golden hour, just makes everything look nice. But more than that, the people here, just everyone just sitting around, enjoying, casually strolling, shopping. Just, I just like took a deep breath and just let this just like exhaled and I'm sounding very, sounding like I'm in some meditation thing. It's not that at all, but it's just like, I just suddenly like, just suddenly like let go and I was like, ah, this is so nice. It's just a nice positive place to be here and it's just busy yet calm. Like it's not loud. It's really weird. There's so many people about. It's like busy. There's so many shops, restaurants, cars. There's a whole road. There's a line of traffic building up just here on the crossroads, but somehow it's quiet and just peaceful at the same time. What a magical place. Oh my goodness. So after that incredible meal, I'm so full. We ate so much. It's been a great food day today, I have to say. So that was at the Richmond Cafe here at the Richmond Hotel in Ortegas. Great food. Really enjoyed it. Yes, darling. Chocolate day. Is it chocolate day today? I think it might be. We've actually now been greeted with some Pudding Nut Pralines and some cookies and what looks like, like an iced chocolate drink. Amazing. Some eye masks. Chocolate food day. Chocolate foodie day. So this is our small food. Very yummy. Really good cookie. I actually went to the gym earlier and I think that was a great idea before today. Because it's made me hungry and I think Geordie's going to hopefully go to the gym this evening. So it's all for a reason, guys. Don't worry. But thank you so much for watching today's video.
