Ukraine’s defense forces struck Russian facilities involved in missile launches and the production of rocket fuel. For example, a branch of an institute in the Nizhny Novgorod region that develops, maintains, and operates launch complexes, refueling equipment, and missile control systems was hit.
In the same region of the Russian Federation, the defenders of Ukraine struck an enterprise that works in the interests of the missile program, and in the Tver region, a plant that produces additives for diesel fuel and aviation kerosene, as well as fuel components for the Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles.
Ukrainian attacks on refineries are also continuing: the largest oil refinery in Russia in Omsk was hit, and today, the Lukoil plant in Ukhta. The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not forget to respond in kind to attacks on Ukrainian data centers, disabling Yandex data processing centers.
Strikes on the enemy’s missile program are the only truly effective air defense. Like strikes on refineries, they could be the factor that will motivate Moscow to agree to at least some kind of truce. Ukraine is providing itself with “cards,” as the US president likes to say. And there would be even more of these “cards” if Ukraine had more weapons and full access to the Starlink system.
Kyiv is developing — or seeking from its Western partners — a full range of cruise and ballistic missiles with varying ranges and payloads. Today, only Russia, the United States, China, and Israel possess such an arsenal. Strategic intercontinental ballistic missiles are the only weapons in this arsenal that Ukraine is not currently seeking. By range, the cruise and ballistic missiles Ukraine is seeking can be divided into short- and medium-range weapons. Short-range missiles can travel up to 300 kilometers and strike targets behind Russian lines and in occupied territories. Medium-range missiles can travel 500–1,000 kilometers and strike targets far behind enemy lines. The Ukrainian military already has Western-made short-range weapons: British Storm Shadow and French SCALP cruise missiles, as well as U.S.-made ATACMS ballistic missiles. Each carries a warhead weighing hundreds of kilograms but has a range of no more than 300 kilometers. Suppliers restrict their use, with U.S. rules tighter than those imposed by Britain and France, which allow regular Ukrainian strikes on Russian border regions. Supplies are also limited.
Several years ago, the United States also committed to begin supplying Ukraine with specially developed air-launched ERAM cruise missiles or glide bombs in the fall of 2026, with a range of up to 450 kilometers. The program’s current status is unknown.

Video Summary
AI GeneratedUkraine is conducting strategic strikes against Russian missile production, fuel facilities, and data centers to degrade Russia's offensive capabilities. By targeting the infrastructure behind cruise missiles and oil refineries, Ukraine aims to create leverage for a future truce while seeking expanded access to long-range ballistic and cruise missiles from Western partners.
