You'll have fun. We're a fun group.
All right, Dean.
I mean, what? I feel like we just got ready for the party.
We're all distracted by the moon.
I know. Okay, I'm sorry. I'm supposed to be reading.
I'm sorry.
The Masonic Temple, which is just a really cool place,
celebrating its centennial anniversary this year.
Yes, you are invited to a night of live music dinner.
It's hosted by yours truly.
Sales Director Angela Spadelli is here,
and Chef Brian Bulo is here in the kitchen
talking about three-cheese tortellini,
which we'll get to in a minute
but first of all listen Dean was just saying we were at a wedding
there um a couple weeks ago yeah
and it's such a great place there's all these different levels
looking around at everything yeah
so much to take in tell us about the celebration yeah so
100 years right it's our centennial it's
phenomenal you know i think it's more important
for us to give back and to have it's a public event
that we're celebrating so there's tickets
available but you know we every weekend we're filled
with concerts with weddings with memorable
moments that we celebrate.
We have a chapel, two, three ballrooms, and then the two theaters.
So this gala is important to us
because without the generations of individuals and people from
Detroit, Michiganers, coming to celebrate every weekend,
we wouldn't still be here today.
So we wanted to give back and do something big
and celebrate with everyone.
What's the square footage on this place? Do you know?
You don't know? Okay.
to give you some what are your coordinates how
do we uh to give you some insight the ballroom
say 10,000 17,000 square feet wow so it's huge
and one of the largest in Detroit honestly do
you two still get lost there at all
when you're in the building how could you not definitely
i heard you went missing for four days is that true
the running joke is don't lean on the wall
because you might fall in wait what
do we before we'll keep talking about what are we going to cook
So I got three cheese tortellini
and we're gonna have we started off with a
mirepoix okay just fancy for garlic
or onion celery and carrots and then you
saute up this is supposed to come out
to and then you cook that down with the
tomatoes and we get our marinara sauce.
There's the sauce, perfect. And then we're gonna do a
pomodoro so that's just creamy marinara sauce.
This steak is so good I don't know what's
going on here chef but man so we wanted to feature some
of the items that would be displayed at the
gala so we're going to do a filet with a nice hollandaise
with the buttercream sauce caper sauce
potatoes here's some appetizers that we featured during cocktail hour
um but really the entertainment
the lineup that we have for the gala
is fabulous too yeah we have an exclusive fever candlelight
experience during cocktail hour
so is it the candlelight concerts yes that we do monthly
yes we're gonna do one for about an hour
and a half um during cocktail and then we have ben
sharky and his band who is a michigan native
so we love him and then a surprise well not really
surprised but i'm telling you guys for today
a performance by the detroit youth choir which is
really great wonderful so um right after dinner they'll come out
and do a quick little set and
then we'll finish the night off with dancing
with Mike Stafford productions hey here's a dumb question
that doesn't matter, but I've always been very curious about it.
How long does it take to light all those candles?
Honestly, because it's so stunning.
Well, definitely not my job,
but that's our catering team.
They take care of that.
Now, is Jay Towers,
he likes to do a little Frank Sinatra
song and dance.
Do you have that on the schedule for him?
We actually have it.
We have it timed for four minutes.
Four minutes every half hour.
Minus four minutes.
What was the original usage
of this, of the Masonic Temple?
So the Masonic Temple, the history, is the largest
temple in the world.
So it was home to
Masons, Freemasons, to celebrate
and to congregate, right?
So it's basically, it was built
for them, and it had so
many different features. Obviously, when we first
opened, the entertainment back then
in the 20s was theater. So the ballrooms
and the theaters are designed that way
and still kept to this day. Large cathedral
ceilings, beautiful architecture, color,
velvet curtain, all of that.
Wait, do you know where the gold is on Oak Island?
Because they're always talking about Freemasons on Oak Island.
I'm just saying.
I just thought maybe you know there's something there.
No, I think that's still a hidden secret.
I don't mean to interrupt, but we're going to have to wrap up.
The tortellini's done?
Oh, tortellini's done.
Okay.
We'll get Dino to put it in.
Do you have a little serving spoon?
Yes, let's try that.
Here, let me give you a time for the tortellini.
Here's the details up on the screen.
Alan has made this salad.
It's a salad.
I like that stuff with the salad.
It's a delicious salad.
It's a delicious salad, Alan.
Mm, I'm gonna mix this with my pasta, you know?
Yes, that should be good.
Head to the website, tickets still available, right?
Yes, head to the website and our Instagram,
