James Kaufman, World News Report today.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a real space rock we have to deal with
just after 3 p.m. Central tomorrow.
It has just been announced by JPL.
I'm going to bring you in and take a look here.
Not at a huge inclination, almost at the elliptical plane here.
This is 2025 TP5.
Now, this rock's 70-plus feet in diameter.
And they just released this information.
Tomorrow is its close approach.
It's going to come very close to Earth,
much closer to Earth than our moon passing between the two of them.
So it should be interesting.
Again, we have a near-Earth object
or space rock that was just spotted coming up from behind.
2025 TP5.
It will be inbound for tomorrow afternoon just
after 3 p.m. I will bring you all to that close
approach data so you can see what that looks like.
We'll go ahead one day here and I'll just see
how close it's going to be and it's definitely going to be very close.
I'll give you all a miles
at some point. All right solution date here says the 13th
so they say that they reported yesterday
Slipped by me, guys.
Very late on the 13th, 63 observations over a one-day period.
Here, you see it was first observed on the 13th
and last observed on the 14th.
So the solution date, I believe here, is wrong.
This was just released by JPL.
I believe someone has made another error.
Condition code is terrible at a 7.
9 being they have no idea how big it is or where it's headed.
0 being they know exactly how large it
is and the path that it's headed in.
7 is much closer to 9 than 0.
So we're looking at uncertainty for sure.
Spotted by our AI automatic software.
And again, 63 observations over 24 hours is a lot of observations.
I would think they would have extrapolated
more information than they have.
But let's take a look at the close approach data.
I would think that they'd
also have that condition code down to about a four or five
with that many observations.
I think the solution date is wrong here.
I think they just released this based on the first
and last observations.
That would make sense, right?
All right.
They're saying that this is about 60,000 miles off.
We're going to do the exact math here.
Remember they include the radius of Earth.
The radius of Earth is just under 4,000 miles.
Here we have a close approach to Earth and that's
20.08 UTC time,
so that's going to be 3.08 central time here in the U.S.
The rock's thought to be about 70 to 80 feet in diameter.
It's not moving exceptionally fast
at 8.37 kilometers per second.
So one of your slower near-Earth objects for space rocks,
we'll call it a meteor at this point,
and it looks like our maximum, minimal,
and nominal distance are all the same.
0.00065 astronomical units.
I will convert that right now.
All right, that comes out to be just around 55,000 miles.
That doesn't sound like it's very up close and personal, does it?
But it really is.
The moon's about 230,000 miles away,
between 222 and 234, depending on.
What day of the year it is,
and this is going to be much less than a quarter of that distance.
We have to subtract about 4,000
for the radius from the center of Earth.
We get down to about 50,000 miles.
So that's what we're looking at here.
But with a high uncertainty code,
well, with a condition code of 7,
We know that anything can happen.
Most often, more than not, these rocks always have friends with them.
A 70-foot rock is nothing to play around with.
Obviously, it's not a planet killer, no matter what occurs.
It could be larger, and it could enter Earth's atmosphere.
Although, really, the moon's even in Earth's atmosphere.
So folks, there you go. 2025 TP5 inbound
for a super close approach tomorrow, and it's going to
be less than a quarter of a distance to the moon,
and it's about 70 plus feet in diameter, maybe
much larger. Condition code is 7,
and it's moving just about 9 kilometers per second.
That said, God bless you guys.
Look up in the skies tomorrow
around just after 3 p.m. Central.
You might get a glance of it come through.
God bless.

Always remember,
anything's possible in Bizarro World 2025 TP5.
