I GRADUATED MEDICAL SCHOOL!! Diploma + Moving for Residency
This video is sponsored by The Great Courses Plus, but more on that later.
Hey guys, so it has definitely been a while. Today I am taking graduation photos.
All right guys, so we are here at the Riverwalk. Some of you may know or may not know, but I have
been a San Antonio for the past four years at our medical school and I'm going to be taking
my graduation pictures here at one of the famous landmarks, the Riverwalk. Wow, sunny day.
You do it on this side because it looks nicer. I don't even know. Oh, thank you.
Are you filming that?
Word. Okay, that's a wrap on day one of graduation photos, but my mom also
wants some photos too, so let's look forward to graduation photo day two.
All righty everybody, hello. A UPS or FedEx guy, he just came by my place to drop off
this envelope. Today is 11 a.m. on June 10th and yes, I just woke up.
Here is an envelope. Only God knows what's inside, so let's go ahead and open it. I think that this
is the most expensive piece of paper that I have ever bought in my entire life.
When all is said and done, I think this thing cost me a hundred thousand dollars.
All righty, so before I open this, as you guys know or maybe don't know, during my graduation,
my school sent us this PDF version of my diploma, which I've been able to use for the past month
because I did graduate May 17th. But if you look closely, it has like a giant
gray line through it and it's a piece of paper, a piece of computer paper that I printed out, so
not very official at all. And before I had this piece of paper in it, I had my
med school acceptance letter in it. So both very important, but this is definitely a step up and
to step up from that would be this. Am I ready? I'm not ready. Oh, it's upside down. Holy cow.
Being known that America's Stephanie Revere, having successfully completed the prescribed
course of study and having complied with all other requirements for graduation in this university,
has been, by authority of the state of Texas, awarded the degree Doctor of Medicine. Okay,
there we go. Collectively, these have both cost me probably, if I put it all together,
probably $130,000. And I still have plenty of that in student loan debt. Hey guys, so fabulous
news. I just got to my general surgery rotation schedule that I wanted to share with you guys.
So basically this will be my schedule for the first year of general surgery.
Sorry about that. I'm moving out of my apartment, as you can see. I will show you guys everything
when I'm done. But I'm moving on, so I constantly have maintenance coming in and out. I'm going to
throw up the schedule right here. Going to be my first year surgical experience. I am super excited.
It makes me think now that I have to catch up on my trauma. My trauma knowledge, I mean. I'll be
taking you all along with me, so I hope you stay and experience all of these fields. Let me know
in the comments below what rotation you're looking most forward to. So this is the moving out
progress. This is my closet now. Put most of the things down. This is the bedroom that is basically
nothing. Over here we have the closet, which is basically nothing. I'm just going to take out
Calyx's litter box right now, because today is Calyx's last day at the apartment. Because I'm
taking him to my mom's house right now, because we have a baby shower tomorrow in Houston. And
then I have to come back and finish the kitchen and the bathroom. Also have to sell this mattress.
But yeah, I'm just packing everything up right now, guys. Calyx? Oh, okay. He's making use of his
litter box. But it will be his last time here. Yeah, pretty sad. I wonder if Calyx will miss his old
home. Goodbye, apartment. Alrighty, guys. Man, I am exhausted. That took forever. Here is my car right
now. Absolutely jam-packed to the max with stuff. Calyx does not have all of the room he usually
does, but this will just be a three-hour drive and then he'll never do this. Actually, wait a second.
We have a 14-hour drive to my new resident location. Alright, everybody. This is my final apartment
tour. So this is what I have been seeing for the past four years, and you guys have kind of seen it
too. This is the front door, and this whole area was the living room. I had my couch over here,
my table right there, and a TV right here. And this is my kitchen. And it basically looks like it did
then. Completely empty. This was my kitchen where a lot of late night snacks were had.
And over here is my bathroom. And over here was a closet. This is kind of more of Calyx's area.
This was my bedroom. My bed was right here, and a giant pusheen was over here.
And then in here was the closet. I will miss this chapter of my life very, very much. So
goodbye, everybody, and see you in the next video and place and chapter. Bye, everybody.
Alright, guys. So we are about to start our journey. It is 5.35 in the morning. We are in Texas,
and we have a 13-hour journey. I am here with my cat Calyx. We're waiting for... Oh, my mom's right
there. We're waiting to get coffee, and he is slightly sedated from his medication, so he'll
hopefully be a good boy on this trip. Oh, my gosh. This is going to take me forever to build all by
myself. Holy freaking cow. This is taking forever. Dear God. Just when I thought it was over.
Well, thank you guys so much for enjoying today's video. I'm so happy to be back and to be talking
to all of y'all. Be sure to like this video so that I know that you guys want to see an apartment
tour or if you want to see my first month of my general surgery career. I can't wait to show you
guys that. I don't really have much going on at the moment. I have a lot of free time, as maybe a
lot of y'all have because of summer and the quarantine. So what I've been doing personally
with all of this free time is just taking advantage of it, learning Spanish on Duolingo
or reading up about surgery. And lately, I've also been watching videos about how to understand
people's emotions and feelings. And I've been watching it on The Great Courses Plus. The Great
Courses Plus is an on-demand video learning service from top-notch professors from all over
the country. So I've been watching videos over emotional intelligence from renowned professors
to really understand why people act or do certain things and why I do certain things and how I can
control them, which is a very great tool to use as a physician, not just psychiatry, but every
physician, so that we can better understand how to take care of our patients or understand them.
Through your subscription, you get access to 11,000 video lectures from top-notch professors
from Ivy League universities over a variety of topics. I just particularly like to learn about
how people work, but they have tons of topics, including science, math, history, even how to
cook. The video series I've been watching is Boosting Your Emotional Intelligence, which is
a video series that teaches you why you feel emotions, where they come from, and how to control
them. Great Courses Plus is currently offering my viewers a free trial so that you can check it out
yourself. Show your support for this channel and all my future videos by subscribing to The Great
