Police in Abington are searching right now for those responsible for breaking into a home and stealing thousands of dollars in valuable items.

Sarah and Brian, police say the thieves made a way with thousands of dollars in valuables and now they're urging residents to stay alert.
Two homes, two nights, one neighborhood in Rydal.
The Abington Township Police Department is investigating an attempted home burglary on January 17th around 8 p.m. on the 900 block of Meeting House Road.
Police say the suspect, or suspects, tried to get in the home through a basement window and the back door but couldn't get in.
Typically they target homes that appear to be unoccupied and usually it's a crime of opportunity.
Then less than 24 hours later, just after 7 p.m., a home on the 700 block of Washington Lane was burglarized.
Investigators say whoever was responsible got in through a basement window and left through a back door.
Several valuables were taken.
It was upwards of $15,000 to $20,000 worth of items.
Police say the two crimes, less than a mile apart, could be connected and are stepping up patrols in the area.
It is a nicer part of town, so occasionally we do see a rash of burglaries in those areas,
but at this point we don't have information that this specific neighborhood was targeted for any specific reason.
Investigators say burglars often go straight to the master bedroom where valuables are commonly kept.
They're urging residents to be proactive before leaving home.
We're asking people to go away, leave lights on, maybe leave music on, make it look like you're still at home, and just check on your neighbors.
And police say make sure you let those trusted neighbors know when you'll be away, set your alarms, and use security cameras.
