And hopefully you find this content useful so that you can help improve your overall oral dental health.
And so for today's topic, we're going to talk a little bit about the different toothbrushes that are on the market.
And we have so many different types of toothbrushes.
And even within the toothbrushes, there's different grades of stiffness with the toothbrush heads because ultimately it's about how we brush our teeth and what type of toothbrush that we use.
Now we have hard bristles, right? The bristles of the brushes on the toothbrush that we use to clean our teeth.
And so we want to use a toothbrush with actually soft or extra soft bristles.
There's hard, medium, soft, extra soft.
You want to stay away from the hard bristles because it's actually too hard.
It actually will damage your teeth and it could also damage your gums.
Another reason is many patients, they don't understand or they don't know how hard or how much force they're applying when they brush your teeth.
So if you use a toothbrush with hard bristles, you can cause damage.
And that's why we always recommend using a soft bristle or extra soft bristles on the toothbrushes because that's going to be less damaging, less traumatic to your teeth and gums.
And so what do I use? I actually use an electric toothbrush.
Now electric toothbrushes are great because it does the work for you.
But you also have to be mindful of how you use that electric toothbrush, meaning you want to make sure you get into the gum line.
And it's calibrated so that it knows exactly how much pressure you're using.
It's on a timer so that it knows two minutes is what we recommend.
And so I will use an electric toothbrush.
And the one that I use actually is, let me show you.
I use this one.
This is what I use. I use the Sonicare Diamond Head Toothbrush.
It's got a timer.
It tells you if you're using too much pressure or forces.
And it has actually different modes.
If it's for just cleaning, maybe if you want to whiten your teeth, for deep clean.
So you can set the settings.
And so the toothbrushes today on the market, they're very high tech.
And it also has an app that you can download.
And it will give you all the information.
It will also tell you when you should change your toothbrush, the toothbrush heads.
Because remember, previously I told you we should recommend changing your toothbrushes every three to four months.
So this one has a built-in setting where it will tell you it's time to change your toothbrush.
So it does all the thinking for you.
So you don't have to think about when do I change the toothbrush, what setting I need to use, and things like that.
So electric toothbrushes, especially the Sonicare, the one that I use, is going to be very helpful for you.
If you don't have that available wherever you are, just do a regular toothbrush by using an extra soft toothbrush head.
Extra soft bristles so you don't damage your teeth, you don't damage your gums.
So hopefully that helps.

We'll see you again soon.
Thank you.
