Operation Vivaldi, which the Defense Forces are conducting in eastern Ukraine, has forced the Russian occupiers to retreat, and the enemy will likely be forced to abandon certain plans for an indefinite period. This opinion was expressed by Viktor Tregubov, press secretary of the Joint Forces Group, during a telethon broadcast.

"It's obvious that such a Russian withdrawal would significantly ease the pressure on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, since the offensive on Liman was intended to put pressure on Slavyansk from the north. The key for the Russians was capturing Liman itself. Right now, there's no talk of taking Liman, no talk of reaching Slavyansk, no talk of even holding the western bank of the Black Stallion River," the military man said.

He emphasized that the Russians are currently forced to retreat, which significantly disrupts their plans for the "indefinite future." He noted that this occurred precisely when the enemy began experiencing "cartographic schizophrenia" with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin's claims of capturing the city of Svyatogorsk, located in the northern Donetsk region. As the press secretary noted, the Kremlin's so-called claims of capturing Svyatogorsk have never been true.

According to Tregubov, the Russians embellished their achievements, adding territories they hadn't even seen with their drones, and lying about allegedly encircling the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the relevant territory.

"And now Russians are running in the opposite direction. Accordingly, this can be considered a significant victory," Tregubov emphasized.

He also reported that north of the city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region—between Kupyansk and the village of Dvurechnaya—Russian forces are being reduced. Specifically, the occupiers are being pushed back to the Oskol River. As a reminder, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War reported that between March and September 2026, Russian troops lost control of an area of nearly 300 square kilometers, including at least 147 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory liberated during Operation Vivaldi.

According to ISW, in September, the occupiers captured 175.54 square kilometers but lost control of 256.35 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, resulting in a loss of more than 80.81 square kilometers.
